Great performance...... loved every minute of the Omar Sosa show.....it was a priviledge to watch this virtuoso perform his music with such pure joy ( very present ,in the moment ). The musicians in the band were each extremely versatile and talented. I didn't have dinner at the club.... but I don't see anyone could say this place is "pricey" my friend and I paid $25 each for a great table about 10 feet from Omar Sosa and $8 bucks for a Heineken. I don't know where you come from...... but for the show we got thats not expensive at all ! The acoustics in the Blue Note are incredible..... its like listening to a live album on your ipod with Shure E5c earbuds. Omar said himself this place is like being in someones house.

Pros: Acoustics ! Acoustics ! Acoustics !

Cons: None I can think of

I've been to Blue Note a few times. While it may be a bit pricey(what isn't in NYC), this is one of the premier jazz venues in the entire world. Everybody who's anybody has played this stage at one time or another. The acoustics are very good as well. As far as the last review calling Ron Carter boring....hmmm. Maybe that person didn't catch the right show but Ron Carter is a legend and has played with everyone from Miles Davis to Bill Evans to even James Brown. The statement of, "while he is good on the Bass you don't usually hear alot of Bass solos." Once again........hmmmm. Almost every jazz show I've been to has a series of bass solos throughout the performance, some longer than others but still, that's jazz! Oh well, can't please everyone.

Pros: Acoustics, Performers

When I see the word JAZZ I think of toe tapping and fun. This was not it!! Ron Carter was playing and while he is good on the Bass you don't usually hear alot of Bass solos. One of the people fell asleep it was so depressing. The music would have been good for a wake!! I guess I just didn't get it but I really associate jazz witha little more up tempo music than solo Bass

When walking into the Blue Note one feels the historical significance of this legendary jazz club. I would recommend spending the extra money to actually get a seat rather than standing in the back at the very crowded bar. There is a minimum but skip having dinner before hand and grab a cocktail and a burger and listen to the modern giants of jazz.

Pros: Jazz, food, drinks

Cons: can get pricey

Went on a Thursday night at 22.30 to see Amel Larrieux. She played for almost 2 hours. Great performance, great audience and great atmosphere. The $5 drink minimum is no problem as drinks start at $8. Service was good. Table setting is tight, everyone is sitting opposite of each other. Seems strange at the start but you get used to it quickly. My first visit couldn't have been better.

Pros: Ambience

Cons: Long waiting time in front of the club

Great music, good service and a relaxed attitude. It's rare to order tickets online and not have to pay a service charge.

Pros: Ambience, service

Cons: parking, very small

We went to the Blue Note one night. Upon arrival we were told that the first row was reserved so we moved further back. Well, sometime later the allow those seating nearby seat on said row. The host did not even have the courtesy of letting those that came in early to move up. I would never visit this place again.

The Blue Note is by far the best jazz club in the world. This year alone Ive seen the following shows: Ron Carter, Chick Corea, Cassandra Wilson, and McCoy Tyner. A few weeks back I was at the Jimmy Scott show and Elton John sat in. The following week George Benson sat in with James Carters band. You really never know what to expect at the Blue Note. The seating is very tight but this is not a bad thing. The intimacy of this club is what makes it so special. You literally sit feet away from the performers. Ive been to the other jazz clubs in town and the Blue note is very reasonably priced comparatively. The minimum at the tables is only $5. The drinks are not outrageous and the all inclusive <$20 brunch show on Sundays is a steal.

Saw Bebel Gilberto last evening. She sounded wonderful. Could not see her though. The Blue Note seats six to a small table, with the tables so tight together that as people maneuver and strain to see past eachothers heads they continually knock heads, jab elbows into ribs, etc. I really felt suckered after paying the highest ticket price I've ever payed for a small venue. Expect stangers at your table, and pray they've showered! I will not be going back.

Pros: The Acts, The Staff, The Location

Cons: Tight Seating, Overcrowding
