Idiot Bouncer
by abuilee
I TRIED to take my friend, who was visiting NYC, here a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, the bouncer who was working that night was apparently mentally incompetent and could not tell the difference between real and fake IDs. I showed him my license and was let in. She showed him hers (and mind you, they are IDENTICAL, VALID, Illinois issued drivers licenses) and he refuses to let her in. Of course, we start laughing because there's no way someone can be that stupid. But he's serious. And of course, they don't have scanners there so we couldn't prove to this fool that it WAS, in fact, real. When I mentioned the fact that her license looked just like mine and that it was ridiculous that he could be mistaken, he simply snorted back "Well, maybe you have a better fake". And to top it all off, when we were leaving, he laughs with the so-called manager (?) about catching a fake. We're both 23...our licenses were DEFINITELY not fake.
Seriously, hire a new bouncer who actually knows what he's looking at. Or at least get some scanners for them since they obviously have no brains. So if you're heading here, bring an extra ID...seeing as how they randomly accuse people of carrying fakes.
- Pros: Looked fun from the door
- Cons: The hilariously ridiculous accusations
Greatest Blues Bar in da Village
by topdogtix
Lucky Peterson is probably one of the best and under-rated blues guitar player alive, both on Keyboards and guitar (if your real Lucky maybe see him on drums). Small intimate atmosphere has these special artist appear as they would appear in your own living room!
- Pros: Lucky Peterson to Robert Lockwood Jr.
- Cons: 2nd Floor, Might walk by the Best Blues bar in da Village
Absolutely not fun

This place has very good reviews, but we went there last Saturday, and the waitress was very rude with us, as well as the guitarist playing that night... They played for 15 minutes, then stopped for 20 minutes, then played 15 minutes more, and stopped, and since you have to order 2 drinks per set, it was like you had to order 8 drinks in 1 hour and a half... The waitress was rude, and the place was not even half-full, so we left after one hour and two drinks. Do not go there !
- Pros: good music sometimes
- Cons: rude service
Down-home blues in an intimate Greenwich Village club.

In Short
Perched above Bleecker Street, this well-stocked bar greets those with hard-time drinking on the brain. The dark, candle-lit room has a mixture of table and bar seating, with just enough room left over for the occasional dance. The sounds emanating nightly from the back stage are the soul of the place. Early evenings feature acoustic acts, with local aficionados plugging in after 10pm. On Thursdays national names roll through (Little Milton, Edgar Winter, Robert Lockwood Jr.).

My boyfriend's favorite spot. The place is on the second floor, if you walk too fast you might miss it but once inside this place feels so right. The bands and artist are both talented and play with a lot of soul. The performances were very entertaining. On the establishment side, if you get here a bit too late, you may not be able to grab a seat so you're better off getting here earlier, have a few drinks before each set. This place gets extremely crowded specially on weekends. The only draw that I have is that they don't serve food which could come in quite handy after a few drinks. Oh and there's no cover if you go earlier, only a two minimun drink per person at tables.
Excellent music, ambiance and affordable

I've been to Terra Blues several times and each experience is unique but always enjoyable. The live acts are (blues/jazz) phenomenal. The atmosphere is cozy--almost as though you're there for a personal performance. There is no entrance fee before 10 p.m. and the drinks are affordable. Overall, a great experience.
- Pros: Music, atmosphere, good value
- Cons: get there early or you stand (which could be cool)
Musically delicious

The space is small and intimate and the music is always good (in my experience).
Great place to drop in on a Sunday night and groove with some friends.
- Pros: good music, blues baby, intimate setting
- Cons: can get crowded
Great Place

Catch the early show right after work and you'll get a seat at the bar listening to good blues and let the worries of your day melt away! The late show draws some good names. If you just want to have a few drinks and enjoy stress-free atmosphere and soak up the music, this is the place for the early show. My friend and I try to make there as much as possible! Enjoy.
- Pros: Music, Relaxed
- Cons: No munchies

pretty good bar, pretty good music. but the real draw has to be the staff. The one bartender is really hot. She's also nice and has a cute southern accent. You'll soon find yourself anonymously sending flowers. Go ahead and just try not to stalk.
