STOP Slamming Doors
by lucky888
I needed a nice quite relaxing massage and instead I heard constant slaming of doors for an hour. I was in the room right behind the waiting area and I could hear everything. Some spanish speaking staff members talking in the hallway and I lost count at 20 times, slaming doors. Are you kidding me? Something so simple to fix and nobody ever address this issue? I work the night shift in a hospital and we have a policy of turning the door handle when closing the doors. You don't hear the click of the lock, not a peep. So Haven management, teach your employees a simple rule. No talking and no slamming doors. You are selling peace and quite with your services. If I want noise, I will stay home with my kids.
- Pros: Underground so away from street noises
- Cons: They make up for it by slamming doors and talking in the hallway
Not enough time
by spacouple
My husband and I came in this past weekend for massages. Yes, we came in 5 minutes late, but then they had us fill out forms, had to wait for the locker room (only 2 co-ed bathrooms and 4 people waiting in line) to change. By the time we layed on the tables, we lost 20 minutes of our 60 minute massage time. My complaint is that the front desk should have told us this once we came in. At least I would have changed my appointment to a 30 minute massage and pay for what I received. Don't just pass us along until the therapist ends the session and we are confused as to why it's so short. For the future, if clients are running late (hello, NYC traffic). Skip the paperwork and don't need to change into a robe. Saving these steps gives the client more time for what we are paying for.
- Pros: Massage Therapists
- Cons: Time management from reception staff
Nothing but the Best
by Onielynn
I have been a client for over two years and enjoy the spa. However, some staff members need to be a little more courteous and helpful. The therapists are fine; it's the desk staff that could use some additional training in professionalism. Although it was a recent bad experience, I'll continue to go because of the therapists and the wonderful cozy atmosphere. Several of my friends and I make a day trip to NYC just to go to this SPA.
ENJOY!!!
- Pros: Beautiful Setting, wonder ambience
- Cons: Desk Staff
Great pre-natal massage
by saratk
I went here for a pre-natal massage this weekend (am 23 weeks along) and really enjoyed my session with Andrea. They use the prenatal body cushions which allow the mother to lie face down which I'm actually not a big fan of but it worked. If I was further along, it might be a little uncomfortable and I would request a sidelying massage which I'm not sure if they do or not. In any case, my therapist Andrea was extremely attentive and caring and had a fantastic touch. The atmosphere and music are also very conducive to a relaxing experience. The things that kept me from giving the experience 5 stars is the lack of separate dressing rooms for men and women. They have a co-ed locker room and then you have to get changed in the bathroom.
- Pros: Great ambience, skilled, courteous therapists
- Cons: Co-ed locker room - have to get changed in the bathroom
My choice over Bliss Spa
by dessertchick
I have been to both Bliss and Haven and my experience at Haven won. Great fascial by Hana without the hardsell of costly products. My massage with Andrea was longer than the 60 minutes scheduled. You even have the choice of taking a shower afterwards. Although I didn't get a mani/pedi, the room looked small and cozy. Compare that to the noisy and rude experience at Bliss, I will give my patronage to Haven.
I have read some of the previous reviews and can understand their opinions, but maybe the stars were in my favor because I cannot wait to go back.
- Pros: Go on weekdays to avoid the crowds and be unrushed by the staff
- Cons: Spa is underground so you can hear heels walking above
Fair prices, although sometimes a little sloppy
by pbr2008
The French and Brazilian waxes are affordable, although on a few occasions the woman I went to dribbled wax onto my thigh and didn't bother to clean it up. Yeah, it sounds minor, until you get home and have to heat a wash cloth to get it (and the hair it's stuck to)off, or else take a long bath. Also, is it sanitary to reuse the sticks? Because I notice that the employees spread the wax-y stick all over unmentionable areas and then dip that stick right back into the same can of wax that the next client will use.
Still, I have been going here for years and I think it meets the basic needs.
- Pros: competent / thorough service, affordable, good location, nice ambience
- Cons: The receptionsists have attitude, and waxings can be a little hasty
THE NAME SAYS IT ALL
by PHILLY26
I HAVE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS CONCERNING APPEARANCE OF THE SPA AND LOOKS CAN DEFINITELY BE DECEVING. WHILE NOT THE PRETTIEST OR SWANKIEST, THE QUALITY OF THE TREATMENTS IS TOP NOTCH. AS LONG AS THE PLACE IS CLEAN AND I HAVE MY PRIVACY, I DON'T REALLY CARE THAT THE SPACE IS SOMEWHAT OUTDATED. THEY GAVE MY SISTER ONE OF THE BEST MASSAGES SHE HAS EVER HAD AND MY FACIAL WAS WONDERFUL - RELAXING YET EFFECTIVE AT THE SAME TIME (EVEN THE EXTRACTIONS WERE BEARABLE). MY SKIN IS STILL GLOWING. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE OVER BLISS, CORNELIA AND ALL THE OTHER OVERRATED SPAS ANYDAY. YES THEY ARE PRETTIER BUT I HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICES THEMSELVES AND THAT IS REALLY WHAT I AM PAYING FOR WHEN I GO TO A SPA.
- Pros: GREAT PRODUCT LINES, EXPERIENCED STAFF
- Cons: OUTDATED LOOK TO THE PLACE
Disappointing
by Dgality
I was introduced to Haven by a friend. I had heard many good things about the treatments. My waxing was great--but I was taken aback by the conditions. This Soho spa is not in the tip-top shape that one would expect. Dirty hallways...lack of toilet paper...even the waxing room wasn't clean.
- Pros: Location; quality of services
- Cons: Lack of neatness
Pay attention to the details
by EC10003
I just spent over $200 on servies and I would have given it a five star review if not for the details that Haven doesn't seem to care about. My therapists was great and that's what saved the day. BUT no slippers in the locker room, and my robe had no belt so I had to keep holding on so I would not be exposed. There were empty glasses and a empty cookie plate in the waiting area. So I deducted one star for each infraction. Maybe if they payed attention they will eventually get my 5 star.
- Pros: My facial and massage
- Cons: Need better presentation
Crowded mani/pedi with no conversation
by judy222
I use to get my mani/pedi from Roza and loved coming to her. Now nobody there speaks English. No one serving tea or having girl talk that made the time fly by. Avoid going on Saturdays because all of SOHO will be there.
- Cons: Where is Roza?
