Craziness

I went there with my husband and 2 other couples for dinner. While the restaurant is beautiful and the meal was delicious - we had a crazy thing happen. While we were waiting for our appetizers, 4 kids came in and ran around the restaurant trying to steal our purses and belongings. The servers could not even get a hold of these kids. We were hanging on to our belongings for dear life. How these kids were able to get into the restaurant and past the host and run around the restaurant was beyond all of us.

Great authentic italian food

This place is cozy, intimate and gorgeous.Tthe decor is calming and food is great. The neighborhood is fun and has a lot of personality. I've also tried Arqua's sister restaurant, Petrarca -- Excellent!!

HORRIBLE Service

We were there for a RETIREMENT party for someone who works for a non profit. The staff knew we were a large party. We had a cocktail hour with appetizers then sat at two tables of about 20 each. All obviously payed for and planned in advance. I was floored when the manager came over and told us to be quiet because we were disturbing the rest of the restaurant. First of all, we were being cheery not loud and obnoxious or out of line. Second, they knew this large group was coming so what did they expect. The acoustics sucked in there to being with. The manager was beyond rude, kept coming over to tell us to be quiet and at the end of the night called us all "low class people". We made up more than half of the people in that restaurant and gave most of his business that night. Its up to him to figure out where to put a party this large and he put us in back of the main room. Do not go here. The food is sub par, location terrible and the staff thinks you're lucky to dine there. NY is filled with tons of better restaurants that still treat their customers with respect.

A Tribeca original continues to please with stylish and homey fare.

The Scene
This unassuming northern Italian veteran is housed in a soaring ocher-toned loft, with giant sprays of flowers and wafer-thin sconces that cast diffused light. It's the kind of undemanding space that allows you to focus on the food, rather than the galactic design of a celebrity architect. The diffident but capable servers are a pleasant change from the in-your-face style so common downtown.

The Food
Leonardo Polito, the chef and owner, is a traditionalist who seldom strays from his rustic roots--indeed, while a signature dish may go on sabbatical for a month or two, it reappears when customers start grumbling. Among them is a terrific salad with charred octopus glazed with balsamic vinegar, a light and toothsome artichoke lasagna and Venetian fish soup built on a sturdy seafood stock with clams, mussels and lobster. Polenta and gnocchi excel, too, in all of their variations.

great italian meal

Loved this place. The scallops and risotto appetizer is wonderful, the eggplant ravioli is awesome and so is the meat lasagna! We were so impressed. It's nice and quiet, even on a sat night, and it is romantic. Will definitely go back!

Fantastic!

The decor will impress any hipster, and yet also cater to the romantic couple who want to enjoy a conversation without having to shout. My advice when it comes to the food is stick with the pasta which were all fabulous. The ravioli stuffed with eggplant, drizzled in a truffle/wine sauce was by far the winner. all the appetizers were enjoyable also, priced very fairly. This place is a true escape from the pretentiousness that is found in many nyc eateries. This is a place to enjoy a date, company, and great food in a relaxed setting. sorry singles, a small bar, = no bar scene, a good thing for this type of place.
