Went there last night with a bunch of friends. It was rainy outside, dark inside. Perfectly seedy! The ladies behind the bar were so nice and cheerful. It's a comfortable, family like environment- adorable kids running in and out of the kitchen, and yes, I did see a 6' guy w/ an eye patch. The karaoke selection is fairly limited, some of the tracks are worn, but it just wouldn't seem right if it were anything better. This is the place for you if you want to feel you're going to a friend's house to hang out, drink, eat (they brought us simple hotdogs gratis and shared one of the employee's birthday cake with everyone in the bar), and sing silly songs. "Hawaiian Pnch" was great; it has like, 9 liquors in it!

Pros: Family like environment, nice, thoughtful people, easy going place, good drinks.

Cons: Not for anyone looking for a trendy, hot spot.

This is not your typical bar. Family owned joint that's just keeping it old school. specialty mixed drink- HawaiinPunch is the best alcoholic drink I've ever had. Lots of regulars go to this neighbor dive, but welcome newbies. if you want a mix drink to be perfected, ask for Ma. Good place for a quick drink and entertainment (watching ppl make a fool out of 'em selves on the mic!) Service is average and the songs could always be better.

Boy were we drunk (by the time we got here). To think that I can still remember the stench speaks for itself, though the thundering close-out-the-bar rendition of love shack was fun to watch.

My review: Pros: Can't think of any.... Cons: Sound system- I've seen better stereo systems being push around a shopping cart on the Lower East Side. Atmosphere- Good chance of picking up Herpes in the bathroom or maybe even E-Coli from the tabletops. Female aspect: - Good luck catching a cab outside this place around 4am. So if you have to walk around that area of NYC with yourself an 2 girlfriends I would say your chance of harm coming your way greatly increase...... - Drinks cheap? ... Questionable. If a beer is 4$ there and 5$ at another dive bar with less convicts and trash then I guess whose really getting the bargain. Answer= The Convicts.... - Imagine if something did happen to you at a bar would "Winnies" be the place you family would imagine you hanging out. They may even wonder what you were doing there..... - Maybe if you do hang out at this place you should borrow your boyfreind's pocket knife( who you apparently met at Winnies) just in case something happens. You can never can be to prepared for this place.

Pros: NONE

Cons: YOU NAME IT

I wasn't planning on writing a review, but after I saw how people were bashing this place I had to. Yes it's a dive bar, and? So? The karaoke machine has thousands of songs including hundreds of recent ones (there's a second list in the back of the book). There's a stage and two mics for duets and it doesn't take much coaxing to find someone to to a duet with you if you're shy. This place had a great neighborhood feel and by the time you leave you know everyone there. I didn't get a bad vibe from any of the staff, infact I thought the fact that it was family opperated business was very cute and welcoming. Was there for a b-day party and thought it was great.

Pros: Relaxed, Many songs, Friendly crowd

the bartenders might look like local bakery ladies but they are far more knowledgeable in variety of drinks more than the snotty bartenders in other trendy clubs and lounges.. The atmoshpere is definitely thumbs down but it is soo layback you can really relax with no one to impress. Prices are reasonable given that it is in the middle of chinatown with no service to offer wutsoever.

Pros: inexpensive, layback

Cons: decor

No decor kinda yucky in fact but this is a dive bar that serves pretty good drunken food.. they dont have a menu but you can ask your waitress about it. Fried fish balls, chow mei fun, dumplings, chicken wings all pretty good after a night of crazy karaoking with yer friends.
