BIPOLAR BARTENDER
by SunnysideUp
Have been here a few times. The service ranges from good to down right awful. I think the bartender who is there Friday nights is BIPOLAR. At first he was decent. then all of a sudden he gave us attitude. then he was ok again. then he snapped at me when I asked for water, saying how he wasn't there to fill our glasses with water and how that's not his business. we had over a $80 tab at that point and were going to order more drinks...but closed out and left. he is insane. rude. does not know how to speak to customers. the management would be wise to replace him. it's just sad bc the bar itself is sooo NY.
Great Vibe
by kaiotajane
Stumbled upon this bar restaurant and enjoyed the burger, beer, service and beautiful nyc look of this casual place. I liked that TV's were not going on and people were enjoying vibe and talks here, music was retro and people were relaxed, it felt very creative, would totally return, wish I lived closer.
CASUAL DINNING AT ITS BEST!!!
by wilstine
As a regular I can say that over the last year the quality of food has greatly improved. A new chef and some much needed renovations have revamped the charm of this favorite neighborhood establishment. If you haven't been to Walker's in awhile, or never at all, it's time to check it out.
- Pros: Affordable low key setting
- Cons: Great for last minute large parties
Best brunch in Tribeca
by ny10013
and if you are lucky enough to get Linda as your waitress, will be your golden day! Have tasty divine specials every weekend, with free cocktail - just perfect all around and rarely a wait - delicious - enjoy!!!
- Pros: excellent food, ambience, bloodys
Friendly place to go with friends
by sharonpa
Good food, good wine at reasonable prices with really friendly service thrown in. What more can you ask? Sure it's not the best food in the City, but then you're not paying for it either. Just a fun friendly place to go with friends. Wish there were more like it.
- Pros: food,price,wine
Comfortable local tavern
by ddecavai
Went on Thursday Sept4 for dinner in the front bar room. Walkers is exactly what you want from a local neighborhhod tavern- Food that doesn't try too hard, but is exactly what you expect at reasonable prices, and a good crowd mix. $6.50 for a tap beer is a little steep but ...
It would be a nice upgrade to improve the TV's so I could watch a game with a beer, but the friendly atmosphere makes up for it. Service is ok and is not supposed to be Le Cirque or move you through a meal in 30 minutes.
- Pros: rust right tavern, on-target menu
- Cons: small tv and $6.50 tap beer
Good food, service ehhh
by krystyna03
I live in the neighboorhood and had this restaurant recommended to me by a friend, and I finally went yesterday. The cheeseburger I had was awesome, and the bacon I added was even better. The Mac n' Cheese was a full meal, with ham and brocolli and it was quite good. It was the perfect restaurant for those types of comfort foods done really well. However, the service was spotty, ranging from our own waiter disappearing for long periods of time (only to see him yacking on his cell phone out the window) to our fill-in waitress who was on top of her game. The food was very reasonably priced but the beer on tap fell a little short. Despite ranking it average, I would definitely recommend the restaurant to one of my friends if they were in the mood for a pint and a sandwhich (especially if they want an artery blocking heap of bacon on top!!).
- Pros: food, prices
- Cons: waitstaff was less than hospitable at times
Best Meats in the area.
by fullartist
I just stopped by for a quick lunch only to learn the restaurant had been closed for a couple of days for repairs and that they are reopening this evening for dinner. I love the ambience of the place and find the food and the service to be outstanding plus it is affordable. Their meats are just amazing and the special will make you have more than one meal. Let's stop by tonight to show them that me missed their food. Love the bar more when Stephen is tending it.
- Pros: Great Value for your money
- Cons: Only serve a limited menu in the afternoon after lunch and before dinner
Back when I growing up...
by connoisseurextraordinaire
I was lucky enough to have grown up in Tribeca, back when you could walk around with a slingshot and shoot at Stop signs and not be scared you'd dink a Mercedes. Walkers and it's sister restaurant the Ear Inn on Spring St. are two places I remember my uncle taking me to. In contrast to other restaurants in the area ( and the neighborhood itself) Walkers has maintained its solemn old pub character. These are places where as a kid, growing up you'd graduate from burgers and fries, to mussels and crabcakes, to learning what all the different types of dinner dishes are without feeling out of place or that you had to act a certain way. My end to it is that Walker's is the type of place that at least this amateur editor feels you have to view through a wide focus lens. While many restaurants in the area are current and chic, there a timeless character at Walker's that will win out.
- Pros: Good Food, Cheap, a place wear suits and people in sweats can sit together.
- Cons: People who expect it to be like every other restaurant in the area
we miss you jude
by biscuitbadger
this place used to be great, the food was always pretty good hearty stuff but wow has it fallen apart. the food now is really average and so overpriced. Seamus is the only saving grace. the service is lousy, unfriendly and usually appears to be "medicated". Jude the old chef was the heart of the joint, now its got none.
- Pros: ?????
- Cons: service and food
