Worst service and food I have ever had....
by martinwe99
We stopped into this place around 4ish and it was empty, which should have told us something. It was cramped and the cleanlyness rating was B... Looked it up later they have violations for mice(or rats) roaches and improper use of pesticides to name a few. Anyways to the service... they only serve beverages by the can so get ready to shell out 2 dollars a can for soda. Also they serve it in plastic party cups, 2 of ours had to be sent back because they were cracked. Here come the kicker... the food was BAD and EXPENSIVE. Our pizza's bottom was burnt, the spinach was out of a can (watched the cook just scoop it out, the cheese was horrible and even though we were the only ones in the cramped eating area it took almost 5 minutes to get a another can of tea brought to us. The cooler was literally 20 feet away. First time in my life I almost just left without paying.

Worst Service/Food Ever Experienced/Tasted
by PAOLOpaolo
Going into Sal's Pizzeria, I was dubious about whether or not my friends and I should even try the place. Once inside, our expectations lowered. The place was cramped and shabby. There were weird "sculptures" and the place was extremely cold. We finally got a chance to sit down after waiting for one of the 9 or so tables. I ordered a Pepsi; I received a Sierra Mist. Of course, that has happened before. However, I was appalled when I realized that the cup the waitress gave me was cracked from the rim to the bottom. It was a plastic "party" cup. Moreover, they reuse those cups. My Caprese Salad was fresh and good, but my spaguetti carbonara was extremely oily and salty. And after asking for extra onions, receiving about 3 measly onion slices was another shock. Finally, after we finished eating, my friends and I chatted a little. I like to digest a little before I get back up to walk around the city. To my horror, a man (I believe the owner of the restaurant) literally kicked us out of the restaurant. He told us to leave and not to "think about it just do it." I believe he did it so he could seat some of the waiting customers; they must have been desperate for business. Surprised beyond words, we left. Absolutely one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever endured.
- Pros: Can't think of any
- Cons: Read Reviews
Worst Restaurant Service!
by Viktor111
My friends were visiting New York for the first time and we heard good and also not so great things about Sal's Restaurant so we visited there. When we got there, the restaurant looked rather shabby and unclean, but we decided to try it anyway. First, we were served drinks in thin, broken plastic party cups. They did not even have glasses and we were quite shocked. AND, later when I went to the restroom, I saw that they were washing the plastic cups for reuse! Next, the pasta was o.k,(overpriced ) but the pizza was just about the driest thing I've ever tasted in my life. By then, we were very disappointed. While we were trying to enjoy a peaceful lunch, we suddenly heard a man (I believe it was the owner) screaming at these customers in Italian, which was quite disturbing. Finally, what really caused me to regret ever going into the restaurant, was that as we finished our meal, again, we saw the same man shooing out a number of customers, who I know did nothing wrong. He was yelling at them to leave at the top of his lungs, just because he thought there would be no room for customers who had just come into the very clammered restaurant. I suggested to those customers to file a serious complaint against Sal's Restaurant. I hope that no one even considers going to that restaurant !!!!
- Pros: NONE!!
- Cons: RUDEST SERVICE, RIP-OFF
Pretty damn good!
by mayamayanyc
I was surprised by the negative reviews as I've been going here for years. I've never had the pizza but for a tiny little joint, their entrees are pretty damn good. The chicken francese is delicious: sour without going overboard, as is the chicken marsala with its buttery mushrooms. The seafood salad is a crowd pleaser and fresh (proximity to Chinatown doesn't hurt) and the house wine ain't too bad. For a filling and tasty meal at a reasonable price, I recommend it. I have not had the same issues with unpleasant service as other reviewers.
- Pros: delicious food at decent prices
- Cons: lacks ambience
VERY RUDE EMPLOYEE
by mikeypii
I went in there with a bunch of friends and it was pretty crowded. We ordered 2 pizzas and drinks and the guy behind the counter was very rude. He was a heavy set guy with glasses and orange hair/goatee. When our food was ready he told us we couldn't sit at the only table available because his friends were coming. We now had 2 pizzas and drinks and no place to sit. His friends came and he gave them free drinks. They did nothing else other than take our spot and be rude, loud and obnoxious. We asked the guy for the table since we were standing and eating and his friends weren't really being "patrons." He got very irate and asked us to leave!!!
Because of that guy we will never go there again.
Terrible Value

The other day, myself and 2 colleagues decided to try Sal's Pizzeria on Broome St in Little Italy. We ordered a pie and two toppings (split in half). What we got was an
undercooked, pizza with little or no toppings. To add insult to injury, when we complained that we were charged $4 for toppings that should have only been $2 (as advertised), the proprieter laughed and sarcastically commented that he shoud have charged even more. We were so amazed that we could be ripped off for a measly $2 more. An $11 pizza w/3 small cans of soda turned out to be a bill of $21. The pizza was bland at best. Avoid this place like the plague!
- Pros: cute waitess
- Cons: , overpriced, a rip-off
