Norman is the best!

Norman is great though I have not tried anyone else I confess. Easy to get to, the salon has fantastic space and the shampooing is delightful!

Moe Smith is Amazing

I always have trouble finding a stylist who can make my wavy, frizzy hair look good. I'm a new mom with no time to "do" my hair in the morning. Moe gave me a cut that was truly "wash and wear."

• Pros: She did wonders for my wavy, (usually) frizzy hair.
• Cons: The cut was pricey.

so unprofessional!

I brought in a picture to a supposedly experienced apprentice. It was a style that I grew my hair out for months for. I specifically said not to take any length off of my bangs. Then she chopped them so short! I was so upset I was near tears. The manager came over and was being so passive about it. I had just spent nearly $200 on highlights so I could have a streak in my bangs. I let her know she chopped it of and she didn't offer any solution to fix it. Sorry was all I got. Not only is my hair an inch long instead of 3 inches long now, she did a terrible job. It's all scraggly. That should have been fixed right away. I waited to talk to the manager after I took off my robe, and she just hid in the back and sent the receptionist to tell me I could leave without paying. She should have confronted me about my botched haircut and offered to fix it.

Jeanette is a Color Genuis-Best Salon in NYC

I have been a devoted client of the Space Salon for 12 years. Jeanette gives me the most gorgeous, golden blonde highlights every time. She really is the best color specialist I have ever seen, and as a beauty industry executive, I have worked with dozens of colorists and hair stylists. Not only is she incredibly talented when it comes to color, but she is a warm, caring person and always gives her clients complete attention and makes them feel welcome and completely relaxed. Even when I?m the last client after a long day, I never feel rushed. The stylists also give stunning blowdrys , and the scalp and neck massages from the assistants are not to be missed. Space also has a wonderful esthetician on staff who gives the best manicures, pedicures and waxing too. I always leave the salon looking and feeling fabulous thanks to the amazing Jeanette!

Run don't walk!!!

I cannot say enough about this salon. I have had my hair cut and colored by some of the "best" in the business and nothing compares to the experience I have at Space. From the second you walk in you are treated like a rock star.(meaning; all the attention you want or just to be left alone) Janette Bower does my color ( for 10 years) and I am not exagerating when I say that at least 3 or 4 times a day I get stopped in the street by people asking about my color. My funniest memory was a Greman girl in on the R train with orange hair asking ,"who does my blonde?" Renee and Norman are great for cuts as well. They really know how to make you look like the best you possible. They're attention to your personal needs far exceeds anything you will get anywhere else. So, run don' t walk to Space, you will not be dissapointed . Pinky swear!

Amazing $45 haircut

I got the $45 model special from one of the assistants named Kayo (spelling?). But she was so nice, so professional, and knew exactly what I wanted...she actually surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend this place, especially for the price.

• Pros: convenient location, right next to the A,C,E and 1,2,3, very nice staff, nice atmosphere, very personable
• Cons: only take cash for model appointments

The greatest salon in New York

I have been going to SPACE since it opened many years ago. I am always looking forward to my haircut with Norman. He is a talented artist, who loves his art. Norman makes me look years younger. Being in Space salon with Norman, like being with a close friend. It's modern, warm, chick and comfortable at the same time. I I have always enjoyed a wonderful massage along with the shampoo. The receptionists are always professional and the place is very well run. I would highly recommend Space salon.

Consistant Style

Nothing says lovin' attention more than Renne's haircuts - she somehow manages to cut and style each hair on my head, transforming a haircut into a stylish accessory that is shown off every day. Renee's cuts translate into everyday use - you can easily re-create the magic at home for everyday.

I have been a faithful client of Space Salon since it first opened its doors over ten years ago and I think it keeps getting better and better. I love the view from the stations overlooking lower 6th Ave, I love the vibe when you first enter the doors. The staff is professional, fun and there to treat you right!

Fantastic color n sharp cuts

I've been going to Space for several years now and each and every time, I walk out feeling "wow". Janette is a genius when it comes to color and highlights. The look is natural and amazing. She takes time discussing any changes you might want, reviews current color situation and then does her magic. Then it's off to Norman for a fantastic cut. He is a wizard with his scissors. No matter the cut, it looks great day after day...even when you are not a blowdrying pro. Space is a gem of a find.

Great Coloring

I moved here from LA and I was looking for a salon that I could trust with my hair because I am extremely pick and very selective as to who I trust with my hair. So I found an article online with Janette Bower and this salon. I looked up the reviews and it looked promising. So I went there, I am naturally have black hair and wanted to go blond again, and was very impressed and content with the end result. Janette spent a LOT of time with me discussing my options and we went through several magazines for color ideas. In the end I was very happy with my color and my hair wasn't completely dried out and damaged due to this proccess. The only negative is that the next day, I found out that some parts of my scalp was burnt due to the dye. I called the salon and Janette called me back and told me that the next time we would do an allergy test to figure out if I am allergic to the dye.

In all, my experience was pleasant and I liked my hair color, I especially liked the fact that my hair wasn't burnt out. The cost is pricy but what in manhattan isn't?
