Best Pilates in NYC

The ambiance is amazing and the teaching very professional. The owner is well known in the industry having written the seminal books about Pilates. She is also well versed in body mechanics and was instructed as a physical therapist.
A boutique Tribeca studio from a best-selling author of Pilates books.

In Short
The studio's namesake is one of the more recognized names in Pilates, and she's chosen her space to be quiet and calming--accommodating only 18 at a time, limiting classes to eight students, and refraining from playing any music. On the first floor, a mirror-lined sea of core-strengthening equipment (including barrels, chairs, upholstered mats and a Cadillac) is where classes take place, while an upper floor is reserved for private sessions with the studio's trainers.
Come HERE for Pilates.

This is the place to be for a true Pilates experience. There is a welcoming and encouraging atmospere that encompasses the BEST workout you could ask for, based on the REAL foundations of Pilates. Whether you are experienced or a beginner, you will find an instructor that you can work with and just LOVE. Entering the studio as a trained dancer with scoliosis and tight hips, I have greatly improved my posture and overall flexibility.
Seriously, just go and you'll be hooked!!!
- Pros: highly regarded, fun, friendly staff
Best of Everything!
by mhenry06 at Citysearch
From the minute you walk through the door until the time you leave, you feel like you are taken care of. The gracious staff greets you at the door, and they go out of their way to fit your ideal workout into your schedule. The space and equipment takes you back in time, and you get a sense of what it might have been like during the days of Joseph Pilates. The instructors have all been trained to teach the classical pilates method, yet they each have their own personal style and something different to add to your workout. I have been taking pilates sessions for almost 5 years now, and I have finally found a studio that offers the best of everything!
- Pros: great location
A Breathe of Freshness!
by kerisinclair at Citysearch
I've been doing Pilates for 5yrs and have always ended up changing studios because of trainers who were not available, or not challenging me, or because the environment was too pretenious and unprofessional. I can say in all sincerity that I will not be changing my studio status now that I have dealt with the warm professionals at Real Pilates. Finally a group of Pilates People who are, in addition to being educated and passionate about their field are fun and interesting to work with. I always leave with my body humming and my brain focused on the helpful advice of my teachers, all of whom are knowledgeable and bring something fresh to my workout. Its so nice to finally look forward to my sessions, and too want to step up my workouts!

Real Pilates keeps it real! A real one of a kind experience you can't get anywhere else; and you have the option to take lessons from a variety of different talented teachers that have a lot to offer! The teachers are real, the method is real, and the energy is raw. Highly recommended!
Young Athlete program
by pilatesdivah at Citysearch
I've been completely addicted to Pilates for the past two years. It never occurred to me, however, what it could do for my 12 year old daughter's figure skating until we heard about the Pilates for Young Athletes program at Real Pilates. Actually, we heard about Alden first. It's hard to find personal trainers who understand how to work with kids. Alden not only specializes in working with young athletes but has also worked with lots of skaters. Her youthful energy is contagious. She knows when to push and when to play. Now my daughter is jumping better, spinning better, and skating with more confidence...but most importantly, she looks forward to going to Pilates as much as she does to skating.
Simply the Best

I started at Real Pilates a little over a year ago. Had always been v. active runner but was new to Pilates. The team of instructors whipped me into the best shape of my life. Have stayed at Real Pilates throughout my pregnancy (34 week and counting). The instructors are the best - extremely well trained, motivated and intelligent. Sasha rocks.
- Pros: Staff, friendly setting, no attitude
- Cons: None
Heal back pain!
by erinedaly at Citysearch
I had never done pilates before and now I am absolutely hooked. I've had back and neck pain for years because of scoliosis. Physical therapy could only do so much, but pilates has been the answer to being pain free. I've also been able to lose weight and get more toned than I have ever been before. Alden is the absolute best! She gets the maximum out of you each session and even makes it fun! I'm always surprised how fast each hour goes and how incredible I feel after.
