I am eternally grateful to Mr. Leung for his great classes. I feel like a confident driver here in the city. He is a great teacher. I passed my road test today on my first try! Thank you thank you thank you so much!

Pros: Value, teaching

Mr. Leung is a great instructor. I highly recommend this school. The vehicle is in good condition, Corolla. Mr, Leung is very thorough and patient. He keeps a log of all the lessons, to see what you will need work on before the road test. I took the 10 lessons package with additional 2 lessons for the mock road test and passed on my first try. Only complaint about this school is the defensive video could be shown in a better setting.

Cons: Video can be shown in a better setting

I had held a foreign driver's license for over ten years and decided to use Leung's Driving School to assist me in the process of obtaining a NY driver's license. I took a couple of classes to brush up on my parallel parking skills and get some pointers for the road test. The classes were very successful, and although I had over 10 years of experience driving, Albert managed to teach me a couple new tricks and gave me some really good tips on NY traffic law. I also used Leung's Driving School for my four-hour theoretical class, and car rental for the road test. The staff is always very polite, helpful, and prices are very reasonable. By the way, I passed the written and road tests on my first try.

Pros: Good instructors, good value

Cons: The theoretical four-hour class could be a little better

Mr. Leung was my driving instructor and I must say that he did a very good job. He is very thorough with his lessons and explained every single detail you need to know to pass the driving test. He is also very attentive during driving lessons unlike most instructors who always do their own stuffs if they think that you are capable of driving. The front desk lady of this driving school is friendly and helpful and I'd recommend this school to anyone that needs to learn how to drive.

Pros: Attentive and patient instructor, great customer service

Cons: No proper classroom for watching the video prior to learner's permit test

I had earlier signed up for one of the fancy, high priced manhattan driving school. I signed up with Leung's to just supplement my learning with some cheap lessons as my road test was approaching fast. But I realized Mr. Albert was so much better than my other school instructor. My other school instructor was so passive while I was learning. He used to make his phone calls, organize his bills and stuff. But Mr. Leung was actively involved, always giving me feedback and making me realize why we need to exercise so much caution , as the manual recommends. After a few lessons, it was an easy decision for me to cancel my other school's lessons and sign up with Mr. Albert. for both test and lessons.

Pros: Very attentive instructor, Instills careful driving, Great value for money, help clear exam

Cons: Chinatown is little crowded, no pickup from work/home

I echo all the things the previous posters mentioned about Leung's Driving School. I actually just passed my road test today (!!), and have to give a lot of credit to Albert for helping me make it on my first attempt. He's very attentive to detail, patient, and also reinforces areas of learning that need the most development. And although driving may not be nuclear physics, it can sometimes be unnerving to drive around in New York City, and he's definitely very good about teaching good street sense. ======== Finally, in terms of language skills, the folks at Leung's Driving School obviously speak Chinese but they can also speak English as well. There are other schools in Chinatown where the instructors only speak Chinese, and that's fine if you're fluent in Chinese...but there is a pretty even mix between Chinese and non-Chinese students that take lessons here so that should tell you something. ======= I initially learned how to drive with another company a while back, but Leung's Driving School is heads and shoulders above the other driving school. Importantly, hour-and-a-half driving sessions are only around $40 each, and I find it hard to believe that you'll get anywhere near as good a value in Manhattan. They also give you the time that you deserve, as opposed to other places that might shortchange you on time just because they can. The only potential consideration is that the instructor doesn't pick you up at your house -- you have to meet them at their place on Mott Street -- but the walking distance is just a few minutes from any Canal Street station. ======== I took 20 hours' worth of lessons at Leung's, which is probably the minimum that I would recommend unless driving comes very intuitively to you. Keep in mind that the DMV recommends at least 30 hours of road time. Anyway, I'm obviously thrilled to have passed my road test, but I'm equally happy to recommend Leung's Driving School to everyone. You won't be disappointed.

Pros: great value, patient and detailed instruction, speaks both Chinese and English - and helped me pass my road test on the first try!

Cons: the only concern may be that they don't pick you up at your apartment - you have to meet them at their office.

I have just completed a course of lessons with Mr Leung and passed the test. He is always attentive to details, always finding ways to improve your driving and knows how to give students confidence. Leung's lessons were always happily challenging - driving through Chinatown is a great way to learn because you soon fear nothing and develop the confidence needed to pass the test - and you walk away each time having learned lots. It takes about an hour to learn how to drive a car but it takes a lot longer to understand traffic and develop the intuition needed to be a safe driver on the road who can pass the test. This I gained through Mr Leung's lessons. Great value too - the best deal around as far as i can see.

Pros: Value, Quality of teaching, learning environment

Cons: None

Definitely, you should take lessons from here, without Albert's instructions and lessons I wouldn't have made it through the parking phase of the road test. I passed on my first try to the road test. Thanks again. He is very knowledgable and knows what he's talking about and the staff is very nice too.

Pros: Great instuctor and Great staff

Cons: N/A

i had recently completed a 10 class course here and passed my road test succesfully. the instructor was very informative on what to do and focused on lots of little details. i was fully prepared to take the road test thanks to this excellent driving school, i would recommend this school to anyone in the nyc area, although driving in nyc was kind of a drag due to the high volume of traffic. but it was still worth it

Pros: great teacher, price

Cons: traffic
