Tranquility marred only by the hum of the microwave
by damionsammarco at Citysearch
I was kind of shocked when they microwaved my coffee before giving it to me (I watched him do it, the kitchenette is wide open). Really? Panini were crispy and tasty. The atmosphere is pleasant and calm enough to get some work done, which seems to be the main draw of this little cafe. The donuts were impressively light and crisp with rich, flavorful cream, though not made in-house. I wish I could give Here a better review, but get that coffee situation sorted out, fellas.
- Pros: nice place to hide out and get some work done
- Cons: Have yet to sort out the little things.
This theater-gallery-cafe complex exhorts a bohemian appreciation for art in all its shapes and forms.

All Artforms Accepted
Since 1993, HERE has helped thousands of emerging artists to mount shows and exhibits both alternative and traditional in nature. HERE was where Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues" got its start, and where Basil Twist's "Symphonie Fantastique" put abstract puppetry on the map. The still-going "Culturemart" series most clearly embodies this tradition by showcasing a range of cross-disciplinary art every year.
A Unique Space
Housed in a two-floor space on Soho's outskirts, HERE is home to three theaters, two galleries and one cafe. Rather than completely cordon off the visual, performance and "dialectic" arts from each other, HERE is designed so theatergoers must walk through galleries while gallery-perusers can indulge in conversation over a coffee or a beer at the cafe. The layout reflects HERE's commitment to interactivity--in a laid-back environment.
