take the cannoli!

I'd heard great things about Veniero's, after going to Rocco's, I was less than impressed. Rocco's has a great selection, good quality, and friendly service - and, unlike Veniero's, they don't fill your cannoli until you order them.
Another plus - it's across the street from John's Pizzeria. What could be a better night out than Manhattan's best pizza, followed up with creamy cannolis from Rocco's?
- Pros: fresh-filled cannoli, good value, mousse cake
- Cons: none I can think of
Example: great place for good bread

everything looks amazing and the cheesecake was so tasty. The only drawbacks were it took a while to order and even longer to pay.
- Pros: amazing cakes
- Cons: slow service

Went to Rocco's at just before noon on a Friday to buy some pastries. The place was empty. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and no one came over to help me. There was an male employee behind the counter having a coffee and pastry who looked at me and then kept eating. The waitress was talking on her cellphone the whole time. I guess they do so much business they can afford to ignore customers. I went to the bakery directly across the street on Bleeker and got some wonderful pastries and the staff were very nice.
- Pros: none
- Cons: service
Excellent italian pastries!!

I have been going to Rocco's for many years and I have to say it is one of the best places in NYC to get Italian pastries. Everything is homemade and the Cannoli's are hand filled to order. They also have the best homemade Italian ices in the summer. If you are in the area (Bleeker and Carmine) definitely give it a try!
- Pros: Great pastries!
- Cons: Slow service
best looking worst tasting food EVER!

The place was empty on a Saturday morning which should have said something, but the window displays had me hooked. The looks of the food put any patessiere in France to shame. $25.00 worth of goods later and I couldn't have been more dissapointed. The black and whites, fruit tart, eclaires, rum custard puffs and cheese cakes were HORRIBLE! The only good thing about this place was the recomendation for Famous Joes Pizza around the corner. I would walk to Brooklyn to eat at Juniors before I crossed the street to Rocco
- Pros: none
- Cons: food

I've only been to Rocco once, but wow! It took me forever to decide what to get because everything looked so good. I finally picked what could best be described as a tiramisu parfait, and as I had hoped, it was delicious. I was also surprised at the prices- it was much cheaper than I thought it would be when I walked in. It's down the street from Magnolia, and honestly, you get much more for your money here. I'll definitely be going back!
- Pros: location, great selection and prices, YUMMY!
- Cons: maybe it could be open a little later on weekends

the service was a bit rude. i was visiting with a group from school. a few of us decided to go in for a snack. i was in line with some friends and they skipped us and went on to someone else behind us! it wasn't like they were busy but they could have pretended to be a bit happier.. well when it was my turn to order, the one lady actually became kind to me and it actually made me happy as well! probably since i'm an overall happy person, i was smiling and being kind in return which i think she may have a been a bit surprised by! but in my opinion, i think they are just overly busy or tired! which makes them not as happy as they could be but that shouldn't stop anyone from visiting this place since they have amazing pastries! and the gelato was yummy! there was a huge variety to choose from! i'm not sure how to compare it to other bakeries but for the price which was actually super cheap.. i loved it! a pastery and a cup of gelato costed me less than $3!
but to shorten this, just be kind to the staff even if they seem rude!
- Pros: amazing prices! i would've thought it was going to be expensive but its definitely not!
- Cons: some rude service but if you can just don't focus on it, you'll love it there

Finding a table can be a true feat at this pasticceria. We waited for over 25 minutes to be able to flag down a waiter so we could finally put in our order. Then, he told he was simply too busy to take our order.
- Pros: no idea - couldn't place my order
- Cons: RUDE SERVICE
Best cannoli ever!

Rocco's has a classic and delicious selection of italian pastries. For $3.50 you can have a large cannoli with chocolate chips and a cafe latte -- by far one of the best deals around. I can't believe people can still go to S'Bucks with a place like this around. Despite Marjorie's comments, the table service is a great deal, too. It's just that pricing for table service is different than pricing for take-out. Thus, if you order take out, you can't just plop yourselves down in the seating area. The policy might not make sense to everybody, but it is certainly clearly posted in several locations.
