good pasta

by GeraldineKass

I am a pasta lover and can eat it all the time. I must have had it everywhere. The only thing I can say is that i wish they had better service and I was on the cusp of giving the 3.5 stars, but since that is not an option they get 4. We waited longer then I expected and even though my porcine mushroom pasta was very nice, the taste was a bit ruined by the service. But I think that is something that can be fixed so I would come here again..

  • Pros: good food, nice menu
  • Cons: service

Tanti Baci was VERY Good

by Ojkii9

Went to Tanti Baci a few weeks ago and found the food to be very, very good. Fresh ingredients make the difference and the flavors of the dishes were excellent. I liked the cozy ambiance as well. Definitely would go back.

  • Pros: Food, Ambiance

Best italian food in town.

by zepolelo

The food here is exeptional, it is better than any other italian restaurant I've been in . No matter what I order here, the flavors are never dissapointing. The service is excellent, especially from the Spanish waitress, she always makes you feel at home. The ambiance is very quaint, very ideal for a first date. The only negative thing I can say is that the food portions are small for the price and the manager could be a little friendlier.

Great restaurant for pasta

by olm777

Whenever I am in the neighborhood I always try to eat at this place. They have a good Lasa?a and the best meatball in the city. I would recommend this for a dinner with a friend or even a date and big group. I like the variety of Italian wine, with a good price.

makes me feel sad

by noids

Used to go here on a regular basis. We liked:

1. the ambience/atmosphere of the basement location (there's an upstairs/outside on the other side of the block)

2. the friendly owner?/manager and waitress (quirky!)

3. the fairly good tasting main menu items at a good price (for Manhattan)

4. tasty specials with a wide rotation of dishes (although slightly overpriced)

Unfortuntately the place is under new ownership. The warmth is no longer there. Service is bad. The prices have gone up, and it feels like the quality of the food has decreased a bit. Specials now average $20ish. What exactly does this place still have going for it? Food is okay, but no longer a value. Atmosphere? I guess the physical space is unchanged, but the feel from the waiter and manager + the change in music ruins it. I no longer see a reason to go here. There are plenty of other Itlain joints in the village

  • Pros: could still be romantic if you ignore the manager and wait staff; food is not bad
  • Cons: poor value; service needs improvement

Romantic ambience, attentive service, great pasta.

by stellagroove2000

I went on a date at this restaurant and we both found it very romantic. Not a sceney restaurant, but rather quiet and romantic. We ordered the salad to share and the rigatoni puttenesca and the entree chicken dish. Both were great. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

  • Pros: Romantic ambience, affordable dishes, attentive service, large portion sizes.
  • Cons: Sketchy stairwell to get downstairs.

Good food, nice atmosphere

by irvinsha

I visited this place last Friday with a couple of friends. The food was delicious and reasonably priced - I had a mid-sized portion of buccatini all'amatriciana for about $14. The fried calamari was alright, if perhaps a touch soft/soggy. The atmosphere is nice, with dim lighting and a warm atmosphere. It's a bit cramped. The hostess was also hitting on my friend, if in a friendly Italian way. Otherwise, a great place.

  • Pros: Good food, romantic atmosphere
  • Cons: Cramped (didn't try the inside room though), waitstaff may be a bit overfriendly.

Choose the Flower Room

by rochaf

The best Italian in the City at a great price and easy-going atmosphere. I've only eaten upstairs in the Flower Room- great place for a holiday in the City. Olive oil is sick good!

ok, many years later and i'm no longer impressed. service is terrible- they seem not to care, and the food was mediocre. too bad.

  • Pros: Food, Prices, Location
  • Cons: None

I wish people would just give credit when due!!

by sa1

I've been going there for over 5 years!! I go there at least twice a week. The food is great, the place is charming, very romantic and most importantly, it is very reasonably priced. Every time I've brought someone, they got hooked on it!! If I can rate it, I would give it "The Best Italian Food"... I mean, what's not to like? Great authentic food, great service, and very reasonably priced... come on now!!!!

  • Pros: Food, Value, Ambience
  • Cons: Waiting line can be long on a summer night

dissapointing

by photinyc

I had such high hopes that the night would be good here once again but this will be my last visit I make and also for many others. After a night of bad service and a very rude staff I don't think I would come back. The food and the wine- was okay but you can find better Italian that has a charm and a romantic feeling. There is too much hype about the food and location and all in all dinner should be able to be enjoyed in all aspects, the staff disappointed and was unattentive

  • Cons: service, attitudes
