I almost dont want to write a good review fearing it will crowd up the place. But I have to say, I had a pretty good experience there. The menu was good and reasonably priced, the decor is very dive which is what I like, very cozy and so was the service.
- Pros: Food, Service
- Cons: small bathroo, but no biggie

MY GIRLFRIEND AND I HAD A GREAT TIME HERE FOR OUR 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. WE NORMALLY HAVE BRUNCH AT PENNYFEATHERS WHEN EVER I AM IN TOWN BUT THIS TIME WE DECIDED TO DO DINNER. WE BOTH HAD THE SURF AND TURF AND IT WAS INCREDIBLE....OUR STEAK WAS JUST AS GOOD AS ANY STEAK HOUSE AND THE LOBSTER TAIL WAS HUGE..I AM THINKING ABOUT PROPOSING TO MY WIFE HERE SINCE THIS IS THE FIRST RESTAURANT WE ATE AT TOGETHER. IF YOU ARE A COUPLE OR JUST OUT WITH FRIENDS THIS IS A GREAT STOP DURING YOUR DAY. ENJOY!
- Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD, FAST AND FREINDLY SERVICE, GREAT SIDEWALK VIEW
- Cons: IT IS ALWAYS PACKED SO IT IS HARD TO GET A TABLE
WARM, COZY, FUN, AND A GREAT FAMILY EXPERIENCE

We had the most amazing time here!...The food was incredible, the prices are very reasonable, and the service was delightful. What more can you ask for. I was on holiday and we asked our hotel concierge if he could recommend a nice cozy restaurant in the West Village for us, and Pennyfeathers was one of his main choices. I must say that they had one of the best RIB EYE steaks and their Seafood Pasta was superb. Our waiter made an excellent recommendation. Out of our 7 day stay here in the states this was our favorite restaurant. Highly recommended, JOB WELL DONE!
- Pros: PASTA AND STEAK, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE, WARM, COZY
- Cons: SMALL BATHROOM

my friends and i went here for brunch. the waiter walked by us a few times before giving us a menu. when my friends wife asked if there was another menu besides the brunch menu. the waiter became very agitated. he then proceeded to yell at my friends wife. i said we were leaving. that made him angrier. i told the manager what happened. then i walked out. as im standing in front of pennyfeathers and looking around for the next place to go for food. the door of pennyfeathers flies open! its the waiter. he turns around and smacks himself on the behind and says i can kiss it. then he yells a few more things. at the end he says he will stick a finger in my A*S! this guy was outta control! oh yeah, all of the customers and people on the street had stopped to watch this. i was very embarrassed. i called the manager the next day (12-10-2007). i tell her what happened and she just says there is nothing she can do and thats that.
so, never never under any circumstance ask for another menu other than what your given. the waiter will become very very very upset and yell very strange things at you about fingers in certain places.
the waiter was the older guy with glasses and an accent. maybe french or belgain. i have no clue. who know what he would have done if i asked for his name.
i would never set foot in this place again! enter at your own risk of embarassment.
SMALL CAFE WITH CHARM AND PERSONALITY & GOOD FOOD & PERSONAL SERVICE

I CAN REMEMBER GOING TO THIS CHARMING RESTAURANT WHEN I WAS IN MY TWENTIES. NOW AT AGE 50, I FIND IT TO BE A DELIGHTFULL EXPERIENCE ALONE OR WITH A SMALL GROUP OF FRIENDS. THE WOMAN WHO HAS OWNED THE PLACE FOR DECADES IS EVERYONES FRIEND, SHE REMEMBERS EVERYONE AND TAKES A PERSONAL INTEREST IN ALL HER CUSTOMERS WITH A GENUINE INTEREST.
THE FOOD IS BASIC THE PRICES ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE CLEARLY THEY HAVE NOT RAISED THEIR PRICES IN QUITE SOME TIME. ITS A GREAT DATE PLACE AND WHEN YOU ARE THERE YOU SOMEHOW FEEL LIKE YOU ARE PART OF THE FAMILY, I LOVE THAT KIND OF AMBIANCE, THE SERVICE IS ALWAYS GOOD AND AGAIN THE STAFF MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE AT HOME! ITS A VILLAGE MUST

This is a great place to go- if you don't mind food that's too mediocre. This place has a cute homey cafe feel, and the service is very good. The same unfortunately could not be said of their food. There aren't any particulary creative dishes on the menu- it reads more like a diner menu. On top of that, they use the wrong recipe for french onion soup!- this restaurant uses chicken stock and swiss cheese, instead of well... you know what i mean if you know what french onion soup should be made of. On the plus side, food here does come in generous portions.
Worst. Service. Ever.

After coming in for a table for two and being told that it would be a 10 minute wait, we waited 45 minutes - this was while watching several couples come in after us and get seated. Even the bartender could tell the waiters/host were screwing up. After waiting forever to be seated and then forever to get a menu AND AGAIN FOREVER to get our actual food, we were real close to dining and dashing which I havent done since high school - but trust me, this place was BEGGING for it.
By the way, the food wasnt as bad as the service, but no where near warranting it.
- Pros: Cool ambience/neighborhood
- Cons: Everything else that makes a restaurant good - service and food.
A Good Find!

My sister & I had dinner @ Penny Feathers on 9.16.06. Great atmoshphere, good food, good service, & yummy cheasecake! Pretty good value, too. We eat out a lot, and will add this to our list of favorites to return to. :-)
- Pros: Cute, comfortable atmosphere; good service/vaulue, good food (cheescake
- Cons: None we can think of (yes, bathroom small, but no big deal whatsoever. C'mon

I went with some friends the other night after a great cabaret. We were starving and just picked the first place we found walking down the block. The only good part of the meal was the wings and the fact that we were able to take our time. Our server was a little loopy, but at least he didn't rush us out. I definitely wouldn't go back, but a good group of people made it a good experience.
- Pros: Wings
- Cons: Burgers, bathroom (I mean, is that bathroom a joke???)
NOW ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESTAUARANTS!

Pennyfeathers was recomended by a celebrity friend of mine who is a regular. Their food was incredible and the staff was extremely friendly and fun. Eddie was our waiter and my group loved him! The 23ish year old night manager, was charming and not to mention great to look at! I have never tasted a better Prime Rib ever! so goood. The steaks where very well priced and all over 1/2 pound. My friends loved the BB Ribs, Chicken Pot Pie, and Grilled Salmon steak. Its has an extremely cozy, sexy, and comfortable atmosphere inside. The music is a mix of classic soul, jazz, and salsa. The negative reviews must not have been at the same Pennyfeathers that I was at. *this restauarant is defiently in my top 15 NYC restauarnts. For a place that has been in business for 38 years I can see why.
- Pros: Excellent Food, Great staff, Extremely cozy
- Cons: Bathroom Small, Lighting is low
