Decorated with red Christmas lights and colorful T-shirts above the bar, and wooden floors and couches in back, Rubyfruit is a cozy spot that draws a crowd on Saturday nights. Attentive, friendly bartenders serve up tasty drinks that don't break the bank, and the crowd--mostly women over 35 with a sprinkling of younger folk--is lively, especially during weekly musical events and televised Liberty games in the summer.

This is a very get to know the stranger next to you kind of place. There is no way that you cannot know or find out who the person it sitting next to you. You can rub elbows with the best of them. it is small but the drinks and food are excellent. I keep going back to this place on my birthday because on my 25th i had a steak dinner there and every since then I have been getting those steak dinners. I love the place for meeting new people. The staff have been very helpful and friendly. I will keep coming back.

  • Pros: food, steak, friends, service
  • Cons: small

My girlfriends and I celebrated a B-day. The bartenders were friendly and cute. We danced a LOT! The best DJ and crowd. I didn't know they had a DJ every Friday and Saturday so I will definitely will be coming back. The crowd was great and the girls were pretty. What a goldmine!

I have allways had a good time at this bar. As a gay boy who loves the company of women, this bar is the best! The clientelle is allways welcoming and the staff is great.... I have more fun in this bar, either by myself or with my gay girl friends than anywhere else. I love Rubyfruit for it's cultural and gender diversity that is unmatched anywhere else in the city. Rubyfruit rocks. Thanks for keeping the spirit of the west village alive!

  • Pros: great ladies/women
  • Cons: none

Just got back from NY for the St. Paddys Parade - had a couple of good nights out in Rubyfruits! Treated to the "delights" of princess and kansas - altho I feel no-one will appreciate them more than they themselves do!!! Barmaids were lovely and Lisa Love was class! Saturday nite was certainly an eye opener! It was an experience I wont forget in a hurry - and neither will my brothers who's impressions of lesbian bars has risen dramatically thanks to the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere we all received! Will try and get back again one day (and promise not to sing this time!) Slainte

  • Pros: barstaff, atmosphere, bar top dancers
  • Cons: princess, kansas, the "violater" ?

..if THIS is the best social option available to us in NYC! W/apologies to Ruby's loyalists (hopefully, you won't leave the bar long enough to read this), it's a long, narrow awkward space, often populated by ill-mannered barflies - woe betide the unsuspecting attractive "new girl"!! Expect the diehard regulars to run you off with hostile stares (sisterhood, my foot!) or ignore you until you wisely go away. In fairness, the occasional miracle occurs, & the place rocks w/approachable, pretty women. My advice to >35 NYC women ISO romance: Meet your lady ONLINE first, then bring her for a drink at "Ruby's" every so often, just to appreciate how good you really have it!!

  • Pros: Old Standby, Good Staff/Drinks, Sporadically rocks
  • Cons: , Wax Museum Patrons, Uncomfy Layout

not my dream bar, but for a late night ladies spot it's great. the majority of the patrons might be older, but the sexy bartenders and waitresses give me hope. fri. best night. sweet, sexy cocktailwaitress/newspaper boy, cute aussie girl, and the mysterious downstairs waitress. (what is her name?) worth your time to checkout this pretty cool ladie's bar.

  • Pros: staff, location
  • Cons: too crowded, older

Although I've been to Rubyfruit a number of times over the years and always had a good time, a couple of weeks ago I stopped in w/a couple of friends and we just had sooo much fun! We sat upstairs in the sexily lit bar and had the tastiest mussels and chicken piccatta (followed by yummy chocolate martinis!) while we surveyed the crowd which was extremely diverse and included quite a few exquisitely attractive women(including the staff!). Then our ears were treated to an original live musical performance by Grace and her band(if she plays there again you should run not walk to Rubyfruit!). I was even pulled up during a song by one of the friendly bartenders and another cute girl and we danced on the bar! I'll definitely be frequenting there more often!

  • Pros: great service, great drinks and food, great atmosphere
