Nice place to hang-out with friends
by ElleO
I like the atmosphere here; good vibe and good selection of beer. It's nice during an afternoon if you want to take a break and chat with friends. Night can be crowded but still lots of good people.
- Pros: location, fair prices, darts
- Cons: can be full
I'd Rather Be Fishing

I'm part of a weekly Wednesday drinking group of 30 or so regulars who love to drink, geek out, talk and eat after work. We check out a different bar each week. We've been kicking around the city for 12 years. In that time we've visited several hundred bars (with repeats of faves). Now, I love neighborhood bars. I don't mind dives. Kettle of Fish has a homey, divey feel, but it doesn't grab me as anything that stands out as particularly good or bad. It just seems like any ole place to lay down money on a bar. The service was decent. The staff was friendly enough. The character of the place was generically "neighborhood bar" with no frills and a standard selection of beers. I guess why I'm at a loss is because the bar is located in perhaps one of the more fabulous neighborhoods in terms of local color.
- Pros: Not Too Crowded
- Cons: Has No Flair

I'm a recent expat of the fine state of Wisconsin, and I was told by a K of F person to forget about even getting through the door to this Packers bar prior to a big game, "not being a regular". How exactly does one become a regular?? What credentials do I need? Is there a VIP guest list? Velvet rope? Has NYC has corrupted your WI virtues!? I've been desperately searching for a humble place where folks can pronounce words like "Oconomowoc", where people know what a Leinies tastes like, a place where I could cheer for the greatest team in football...
Now I'm homesick and sharing my bag of fresh Ellsworth cheese curds with my coworkers. Too bad for you, Kettle of Fish. They're squeaky and delicious.
The best chill dive bar in the West Village

This is a great place to just grab a beer and hang out with your friends. They usually have an interesting selection of beers on tap, the jukebox is loaded with great albums and the music is just the right volume. They have old beat up couches and dartboards in the back. It's just perfect. It feels like home.
- Pros: Beer selection, jukebox, character
- Cons: Tends to be frequented by sketchy old guys who creep out my female friends
Packers Bar Sundays, Great Beer Everyday!
by staceylizz
On Packers football days this little bar transforms into cheesehead heaven, complete with homemade Brats and free crackers and cheese before game time. Lots of old couches, and dark wood panneling make you feel like your sitting in your parents basement - Such a homey and comfortable place. As far as I am concerned, there is no other place to watch the game!
- Pros: Packers Bar, Friendly, Authentic.
- Cons: A bit dark, and tends to get crowded on gameday
