i stumbled upon this store while just walking around with a friend on a sunday afternoon. the jewelry is a mix of edge and elegance. i purchased a silver heart with thorns on a silver chain and i just love it! i actually met Hal Ludacer, the designer of my piece while i was there and the salesperson was great! She was very helpful and honest and not pushy at all! it's not ordinary jewelry for sure! it is very different. if you want jewelry that everyone else has go to Tiffany if you want something unique go to Fassbinder!
- Pros: nice layout, unique jewelry, great salesperson!
- Cons: none i can think of
bad costumer service and common jewelry

Bad service and lots of attitude with the sweety talk are two of the best things you will find here, Nothing original or anything you coudn't find on the store next block, and for ridiculous prices!!! Way over priced, What happened with the great German lady that used make repairs there??? Don't like the people and don't like the jewelry.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: everything else
eclectic, and extremely rude

This store has a huge mish mash of different styles of stuff. There is no doubt about it, it's also a total mess. And to make matters worse the sales staff consisted of one woman who barely spoke any english and obviously knew nothing about jewelry. It was pathetic how unhelpful she was. I have to say, I will never go back.
- Pros: large variety
- Cons: ignorant unhelpful staff, and lots of junk
Gorgeous organic shapes, awesome staff

I love this store. It is my favorite jewelry store in Manhattan. I have two beautiful pieces - one a sort of sterling silver faux bois bracelet with an acorn charm and most recently purchased, a stunning gold calla lily shaped ring.
The ring, something I'd coveted for many moons, turned out to have some fragility around an inlaid stone. Nervous once, Fassbinder kindly re-fitted and secured the stone for me. Then, as fate might have it - I lost the stone anyway. Not only did Fassbinder take it back, replace and rework the stone, but did it free of charge. And, not once, did they make me feel bad or like I was a problem customer.
Service and staff here are fantastic.
- Pros: unique, beautiful jewelry, great staff
- Cons: expensive, but worth it
Best variety for men and women

I was desperately looking for a gift for my husband's to be best men and a friend from the neiborghood reminded me of Fassbinder... Not only I found great cufflinks for the guys but also they were able to make 4 matching pairs of bracelettes and earrings for my brides maids, the service was beyond words, they worked with me very professionally. Did I love it??? You bet I did, and so did the bridal party.
- Pros: Men and Women jewelry
- Cons: none I can think of
Splendid jewelry worthy of royalty and rock stars.

In Short
This sunny, brilliantly curated boutique of modern metalwork and vintage home items is a treat to browse. Sleek polish and rough-hewn natural elements come together in a collection of bold, vibrantly charged jewelry. Black pearl pendants in coy silver casings, chunky rings molded to fit organically shaped gems and enameled hearts bursting against silver thorns are some of the pieces to covet. Men's rings are one of the specialties, displayed just a case over from dramatic gold dangles and flurries of wired stones.
Look no further!

Wow, what a find... thanks citysearch! I am visiting from England and have been scouring the city for the past week in search of that perfect piece of jewelry, you know the kind - not one of many as can be found in your finer department stores and national chains, not your run of the mill-seen it or something like it a thousand times over pieces, but a real stunner, something eye-catching, something vibrant and colourful like me. I wrote down the name of this shop after looking through the citysearch pages, yet it was the last shop i went to. Boy am I glad that I held out and passed on some of the other "i like it, but do i love it?" pieces i found in other shops. When we arrived at Fassbinder we were warmly and genuinely greeted and the atmosphere was relaxed yet elegant. The bright cases were alight with stunning colours and beautiful settings. Near the back I spotted the one! It was a beautiful organic shaped citrine stone set in brushed silver with a detail of 18k gold on the inside of the band. The fact that it fit the finger I was intending it for perfectly made it clear that this ring had been waiting for me to find it! Soooo glad I did - thanks a million citysearch! If you are looking for something unique in the world of jewelry and can't seem to find it anywhere I would highly recommend you pay this lovely little store a visit! Vx
- Pros: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, value for money
- Cons: Couldn't afford to buy more!
Very Nice Jewelry by Nicholas S. at InsiderPages

I dont know what I enjoy the most about this store. The nice uncluttered look. I like that the jewelry is arranged in vertical showcases, no more hunching over to view the assorted merchandise. The young woman who works there is most pleasant and has given me excellent advice when selecting a gift which was fairly priced and well received.

Fassbinder is really nice jewelry in the West Village. You wont find $5,000 diamond rings here nor will you find $20 rings either. A nice middle class ring store think a few hundred dollars for a really nice ring. The service is excellent, usually the store is manned by a young woman of European origin who is very friendly and helpful. The fellow who works there is very nice to and they are really helpful without being pushy. They have two rather large urns/vases? with pictures of Chairman Mao on them and I have no idea what they have to do with the rest of the store but I think they are funky.

This is a lovely little jewelry store located way over in the West Village. They sell rings by designers I've never heard of before but that are tiny works of art. A great place for a quick browse and although they are not cheap, considering these are mostly gemstone rings, they are not silly either and you can pick from a lot of nice rings in the 150 - 300 range. They have some pricier jewelry also. The staff is very friendly and they will show you everything you want to see and never make you feel pressured. A fun place to shop.
PROS: Nice Staff Interesting Rings Open fairly Late
CONS: None
