There is nothing good to say about Abingdon. Cramped, dingy little room with 25 W lightbulbs - ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I really did go buy 75W bulbs to put in! The wifi doesn't work on the 3rd floor; apparently they didn't know this. Whatever. They don't even offer decent shower products, just some generic all-in-one "shower/shampoo" liquid and no body lotion and there weren't enough hangers. On top of all that, whoever answered when I called about reservations argued with me when I quoted him the discounted rates listed on their website! There are much better options all over the city. This place stinks!

The Scene
Made up of two historic townhouses, this guesthouse is situated in the center of Greenwich Village. With the district's narrow tree-lined streets, great cafes and restaurants, attractive and reasonably priced accommodation is merely icing on the cake. The clientele is usually more interested in looking at the area's architecture than looking for a great late-night bar.
The Details
This B&B-like inn is cozy, clean and run by amiable staff. The nine guest rooms (all with private baths) are uniquely decorated. Most have dark-hued walls, fluffy-looking beds, fireplaces and period furniture. The Garden Room, as the name suggests, gives guests access to the small, leafy garden.
Location!

The rooms are great, a good value and decorated with a sense of style. The best thing about this place, though, is the location. Greenwich Village is the best area to stay in Manhattan as it is central, convenient to everywhere, and has a cosmopolitan charm about it. But this particular location, in the West Village very near Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, great shopping, restaurants, and nightlife, and close to good subway lines, is the best of the best.

This place is in the best part of New York City. It is convenient to everywhere and the historic neighborhood is quaint yet at the same time an active part of Manhattan. We were very comfortable and felt like we were staying with friends or had our own place. It was a bargain, too. In a trendy area with extremely expensive real estate, we had a stylish, spacious room at a very reasonable price by New York standards.
- Pros: Best location, Comfortable, Tastefully Decorated
