Josh has moved to Damian West salon on West 4th Street

by vjmuir

So happy I managed to track down Josh. She used to work here at Jason Croy salon, and has recently moved to Damian West, on West 4th Street. I've recommended her to so many friends, and we all agree that she's given us the best haircuts we've ever had.

Josh has ALWAYS given me the best cut, and always makes me smile!!

Visit her at Damien West, as that's a lovely salon!!

Disaster Alert - Do Not Go If You Like Your Hair !!

by cara680

I went a few years ago - but the memory lives on!! Jason chopped 6 inches off my hair, after I asked him for a 1 inch trim. I was very clear on this and demonstrated exactly how much I wanted off, and he agreed. The haircut was a heavy, unattractive bob that could not have been more unflattering. When I complained that he did the opposite of what I requested, he told me that he did what he thought would look good. Too bad nobody else thought it loooked good, including me!! He than arrogantly advised me that he had done the same thing to an ER Nurse at St. Vincent's who later called to apologize - supposedly she than saw his genius? I guess because I have a career in nursing as well I was to also "see the light"? Somehow after leaving his "genius" never overtook me! I absolutely hated the cut and thought of getting extensions - that is how bad it was - unflattering in every way. Fortunately I found another salon who worked with me to gradually grow out the damage. That is the thing with hair.... When an inconsiderate, arrogant stylist thinks he knows best, you suffer. And you have to wait for YOUR hair to grow.

  • Pros: The building and assistants are nice

great haircuts

by mphpnj

If you want a great haircut from a hip stylist, but can't deal with the attitude, go see Jason Croy. He is an amazing, instincitve cutter; he cuts your hair so if falls the way it wants to fall, but looks great. Don't go to Jason if you are in a hurry. Part of the charm is that this is a neighborhood joint. People and kids from nearby drop in to say hi. The mailman stops in for coffee and a chat. It's a wonderful, humane place. If you are in a rush, this isn't the place to go. Go to Jason's, get into the vibe of this wonderful west village community, and get a great haircut.

  • Pros: great cuts, great vibe, kind people
  • Cons: time stops here, appts go over 1 hr.

Great Woman's Haircut

by angelalynn114

There is a stylist that works at the Jason Croy salon that has given me the best haircuts ever! Her name is Dawn Dawson and she always spends a great deal of time with me and when I leave, I always feel like a rock star or a model ready for her head shot. I always get great compliments on my new do's. I have long, straight hair that never seemed to do anything but hang there until Dawn entered my life. I highly recommend her!

  • Pros: Great Haircut, Friendly, On time
  • Cons: , Dog in lobby, Soiled Couches

BEST CUT!

by rpmumby

In an effort to find a great haircut I have tried the range of salons: the hyper-exlusive salons of the Upper East Side to the trendy small botique-sized salons of the East Village. However, I was never satisfied until visiting Jason at his own salon. Finding a men's cut that does not look like it is from supercuts, but also doesn't seem like it is part of a costume is very difficult. Jason succedes in spades! The charming West Village location is such an added bonus!

  • Pros: amazing styling, effusive personality, interesting space
