Great Place

by Perry1968

This bar is wonderful because the staff makes you feel like home and the patrons are just fun. In my life I am always taken to the "hot" spaces but I always look forward to coming here.

  • Pros: Friendly

Finally a female bartender on Thurs....It's the only night i get to go so forgive me for being excited, it's nice to be served by another lesbian, well i think she's a lesbian! You cannot go wrong with this bar. You meet people from all over the country. Greatness!

One of the best bars in NYC

by jooch4

My boyfriend and I first came here when we had a lesbian friend in town, a few months ago, and we love it. Great vibe, energy, and friendly staff. I don't know what annabellee is talking about. Lisa is one of the nicest bartenders and makes everyone feel welcome, and judging from the amount of girls that flock around her, a pretty popular one too.

The only negative is on the weekends, when it can get uncomfortably crowded.

  • Pros: cool vibe very friendly
  • Cons: too crowded on the weekends

Finally a friendly lesbian bartender....

by will187

One thing that the lesbian community has been missing for years is a friendly (female) bartender and the Cubbyhole seems to have found one! The male bartenders i love - i'm secretly in love with Christophe! Blonde and very friendly, not sure of her name (she's there on tue nights) but it's refreshing to see someone enjoy what they do.

Congratulations Cubbyhole!

Cool Cubby

by annabellelee

Cubby is a great bar with a relaxed and very friendly atmosphere - easy to go to by yourself and meet some new friends. Only consistent drawback is depressed bartender Lisa who can be quite rude - as a former bartender clear burnout is in effect - c'ome on cubby and hire someone with a personalty, looks and some cool drink skills - you'll be packed even more!! All in all of course a cool, relaxed place to feel very comfortable among other friendly patrons and some cool decor!

Great bar....

by hapyorker78

I was shocked when i read the last review of what is now one of my favourite bars in NYC and i could not disagree more. There is a reason why the bar is packed on a tue night, (1) because the margaritas are good. (2) they're $2.00! - where does that happen! (3) the bartenders are extremely friendly and wouldn't know how to give someone attitute.... So clearly that person had a bad day and judged everyone they came in contact with!

MOVING ON, i went last monday for the first time for my birthday and the blonde bartender payed a lot of attention to us, gave us delicious shots and made sure we were comfortable had a great time. She even stayed after her shift gave us pizza and danced with us! LONG LIVE THE CUBBYHOLE!

Horrible

by sassychick08

the $2 dollar margaritas were awful! the place stinks. the crowd was of obnoxious people, losers. the blonde bartender had some attitude, who needs an old chick to tend bar anyway? the place is simply dirty. ugly people, ugly bartender, ugly bar. the cubbyhole in one word? loserville.

  • Pros: nice location
  • Cons: the place is filled with losers

Best bar....

by nygirliegirl

i have never met or felt uncomfortable in the CubbyHole - everyone is extremely relaxed and friendly.... Try it again on a tue or thur, Sundays are great also....Christopher and Ellen are just some of the really friendly bartenders there, not forgetting cutie pies Lisa and Carla. It deserves to be given another chance....

Garanteed a good time!

Best Bar

by bgouda

Biased as I may be, the Cubbyhole is the best bar in NYC. Absolutely.

The Cubbyhole is familial and friendly. A true neighborhood bar. Teeming with gay men and women, straight people, couples and singles. Every walk of life can find comfort and fun at the Cubby. The dedicated staff is always around to help out even when "off duty." The bartenders are all great, from fun loving to intellectual, from crazy queen to pretty lady. Lots of regulars and lots of newbies. This is a great bar, you will never see a more eclectic group of misfits mixed with such a fun decor. Amazing specials during the week, frozen drinks, margaritas and an astoundingly massive music selection.

  • Pros: Fun, juke box, atmosphere, prices, not trendy
  • Cons: gets crowded, lines on weekends,

I am NOT a Cubbyhole hater

by jimmyDig

I really like this bar. I usually have a great time, eveyone is generous and i usually meet nice people. the decorations are fun and the place is either bumping or really layed back. They have a great early evening crowd during the week. the staff is always around and really nice and helpful.

I have one complaint though, the monday night bartender.... He is very strange, he is always joking around and not very good at his job. AND HE SKIPS MUSIC ON THE JUKEBOX. soooo rude! I put in a lot of money and he skips it or he says it is broken so he can listen to his ipod. And why does he pull down his pants? it's gross! I know he is just trying to be funny and queeny but YECH! I don't want to see his butt. Enough complaining.

The new girl is great, she's a really great bartender. Tuesdays, wednesdays and Thursdays are the most fun. The weekends can be a little too crowed. I like coming to the cubby because I don't feel like I am being cruised. Easy and fun. Plenty of guys for me to meet and plenty of girls to talk to too. I think if you have a bad experience here, you should come back and give it another try. And now that Shag and Ruby is closed, i will be coming here more often.

  • Pros: good specials, $2 margaritas, nice staff, decor, dolly parton
  • Cons: too small sometimes, crowded weekends
