Our son has been attending Push My Swing for 8 months. He is 2+ years in age. We are very happy with the care that he receives. Push My Swing is a cozy place with caring childcare providers. It is friendly, relaxed and flexible. The children who attend are happy and comfortable in their surroundings. Our son's vocabulary has excelled since attending. He arrives home singing songs and recognizes books that he has been introduced to. He knows all the names of his fellow classmates, is very social and adores the women who look after him. Push My Swing may not be large, however it is very inviting. It has a lovely backyard where the children go and play twice a day. They have a swing set, play cars and a slide. This was a big selling point for us. In the sumer they have a sprinkler. As do other daycare facilities, Push My Swing has a schedule of events that the children participate in every day. They have a routine that includes free time play, story time, circle time, outside play, arts and crafts, nap and meal time. I should add that they provide lunch and snacks. Push My Swing is affordable, lower in cost then most other day cares in the New York area, but that is not it's biggest asset. Once again, we are very pleased and would recommend Push My Swing for any one searching for a safe and nurturing environment.
Pros: Cozy, nurturing, outside space and value.
Cons: No complaints

I am curious as to why the extreme feelings about this daycare. The place got 3 consecutively poor reviews and then was bombarded with favorable ones. I hope that the situation has truly changed and that it is not a campaign taken upon by the parents on behest of the place. Of course those of you who have not witnessed yelling of the children will probably not, simply because anyone taking care of your valued child would just not behave that way in front of a parent. PUSH MY SWING/PUSH MY BUTTONS hopefully has examined and changed their discipline policy. and yes children do have fun when they are together, and children are forgiving, they want to believe that the person caring for them really cares for them. I know that it is hard to afford childcare and some mentioned that PUSH is affordable. That is a plus. If anything I am glad that the issue of safety and appropriate care has been put on the table. I am glad you as parents have gotten together and created meaningful dialogue around your child's quality of life in their "home" away from home. Be on the lookout for choking hazzards, cleaning chemicals within reach of the children, unsafe toys, ask for new books , ask for better art supplies, puzzles, open ended building blocks to fuel your child's imagination. Ask that your child be given cups that they can actually hold without them collapsing in their little eager hands. Flimsy paper cups usually crumble and the liquid quota ends up on the floor or table then thats it for the day. Make sure the back area is safe.
Pros: "affordable childcare"
Cons: you get what you pay for

Our son has been attending for a year and half and we've been very happy with our choice. The caregivers are excellent, very attentive and loving. The kids adore them! Our son loves it there. The place is clean and well arranged. Our son is a bright child and Push My Swing has contributed to that considering he spends his whole day there. They do a lot of fun and educational projects and get to play outdoors when the weather permits in their own playground. I like that the setting is small so the care is good and there's a nice mix of kids who've been there awhile as the older ones leave for pre-k. We like the place and the only reason our son will leave is to eventually go to school.

This was my daughter's first daycare. She adjusted extremely well within a week and she absolutely loves the place. The place is safe and the instructors are amazing care givers. She also improved her eating habits soon after she joined daycare (she was a very fussy eater before she went to this daycare and this was our main concern as she was underweight). She constantly talks about her teachers and friends, and sings songs she learned at the day care. In the three months she has been at the daycare, she has learned so much and has become very bright. PROS: Everything you would expect a good daycare to provide for your kids CONS: Not many, could have done with more space but its in Manhattan!

Push My Swing offered loving childcare for my daughter for three years. I chose and continued her care at Push My Swing, after she was eligible for pre-K because I knew that childhood is too quick and children should be in a loving, safe environment as long as they can be. The owner's years of experience and the care in which she selects her staff allows an environment where children from many cultures play and grow together. We had a great experience at Push My Swing.

My daughter has been coming here for well over a year now, and I have found it to be a gem of a daycare facility. The director and teachers are thoughtful and attentive, and take the time to know each child on an individual basis. I have always found them to be dependable and loving towards all of the children. When my daughter started, she was one of the youngest. I loved having the older children (ranging from approx. 2-4 years old), tell me what they did that day. She learned quickly, and responded well to the structured play and daily routines. Now that she is a little older, she delights in telling me about how cute the younger children are. It truly is a small, homelike environment, and the children behave like siblings. The parents I spoke to for references before selecting a daycare gave Push My Swing high marks, and I would tell any prospective chid's parents that we have had a great experience here.
Pros: on-site outdoor play area

my daughter has been attending push my swing approximately eight months now and I couldn't be happier with their services. my child's vocabulary has grown exponentially, she's very comfortable around children her own age, and she's genuinely happy to be there every morning when I drop her off. she even hugs the women that work there goodbye everyday when I pick her up. I am so happy with the love and care they show towards my child that I've asked a couple of the young ladies to babysit her off-hours when needed. when she catches a cold and I opt to keep her home for a day, they even call to check on her. I feel that's going way above and beyond what I even expected when I first made the choice to put her in daycare. the location itself is small which concerned me at first, but they don't take a great deal of children on, so it works. they do keep a very tight schedule but children need stability, so that works too. when the weather allows, they let the children romp around on their private playground which, to me, is invaluable because that means they don't have to ever leave the location to get fresh air and playtime in. I definitely need to go on record saying that I have NEVER seen them scream at any of the children or mistreat them. I have NEVER witnesses unsafe conditions. what I have seen is that my daughter genuinely loves being there. she's flourishing and learning new things everyday and that is what is most important to me as a parent.

Our son has been attending Push My Swing since January 2007 and it has been truly a blessing. Since Push My Swing is in a smaller-school setting we know that our son and the rest of his classmates are each receiving the attention they all need. The Director and Teachers are wonderful, caring, and attentive. We are extremely thrilled and relieved that there is a backyard play area. Everyday our son comes home from learning something new – and shares with us about his day. We Love and Highly Recommend Push My Swing!!!
Pros: Perfect-O!!!
Cons: NONE!!!

Our son has been here for 2 years. We're very happy with the care and attention. I've no idea why previous posters complained; our long-term experience has been exceptionally good esp. in comparison to friends' experiences elsewhere. In choosing a daycare for your child, trust your GUT feeling. We loved this place the moment we walked in. Sure, the facilities are not as modern as a brand-new Child Learning Center where your toddler will learn Latin; rather it has a home-y feel that is comfortable for us and our son. Rimonda hires caring teachers who have treated our son as their own. They've bonded with our son and that has made such a difference. Our son has always been very happy here and never gave us reason for concern like not wanting to go, crying at home, complaining, etc. I've been in the daycare often and help with field trips and I've always felt secure with the environment, both physical and emotional. Re: safety issues- look up the facility in the Department of Health public reports. They haven't been cited for safety violations during spot checks. Believe me, if there were violations they'd be reported- look at reviews of other places. Re: developmental learning and having all the kids together- gimme a break. My son started at 18mos, in 2 years he's learned plenty by being around older & younger kids. Really- what do you think happens in households with a stay-at-home parent? As in a household situation, here they learn through play with other differently-aged children and imaginative activities led by the teachers. Interacting with other children of all ages is important to socialization. As a result, our son knows to act gently around younger kids & learns from the older ones- very important. Re: food- always healthy, plenty of veggies and fruit, whole wheat bread, etc. The small size is a plus-we've made many friends with other parents, almost all are long-termers too. If you want a family-centered community where your kid can be a kid, GO HERE.
Pros: Family-type community, small size, comfy, caring, many long-term families, kids allowed to be happy kids!
Cons: None, really.

Push My Swing Day Care is run by a nice, and I think, well-meaning woman in conjunction with another school. I was hired there and was told she is in business for 17 yrs. I am involved with child centered early education programs, and this is not one. 2 year olds and 4 year olds have different needs and when put in one small room together neither has their needs met. This facility is dangerous for the small ones and boring for the older children who need structure and curriculum. Very few books are available and no creative art space has been organized. The room is smelly and chaotic. There are no school appropriate toys such as manipulative, good solid geometric blocks, puppets or a dress up area with mirror. There is no calendar or child name area for the beginning of number and word recognition. Discipline is not handled well and any kid with a hard day or special need will find themselves in the"timeout" chair and being yelled at. The atmosphere does not promote the calm behavior of either teachers or children. Food in only sort of adequate and not very imaginative. The backyard is unsafe as is the bathroom where cleaning supplies are kept with no lock! When I think of nap-time I still feel sad. The teacher yells at the children to put their heads down and arms to the side, no rubbing of backs or gentle music just the demand to sleep from the director who needs them to sleep so she can get her work done, (some older children age-out of naps and little ones need more). Often they are left at nap-time with one teacher (God forbid a Fire). Which reminds me there is no protocol for emergencies what so ever-!! This place is a poor example of daycare and I would never leave my precious little one there.
Pros: none that I can recall
Cons: this place needs an overhall, new toys, teachers and ages it should serve
