Love This Hotel.

I have stayed here many times. It is a beautiful hotel.
I love the fact that when it is cold outside you can just shop in the mall underneath the hotel. I love the Grand Central Market. Always tons of fresh foods.
The rooms are a little small, but this is NYC.
I loved my stay. I usually can get this on priceline for the rate of $105.00 per night when I am lucky.
- Pros: Right by Grand Central Station
Good hotel all around

My husband and I spent a long weekend in NYC and were on a budget. The Grand Hyatt had several specials that met our requirements. We thought because we were skimping on cost the hotel wouldn't be as nice but we were wrong. We had a very early Saturday arrival and the hotel was able to get us a room to checkin. They asked if we would be ok with a handicap room, which we were. Turns out, the handicap room actually provided more space than a normal room. The only main difference we noticed was the bathroom being a bit lower. We read complaints about the space of the room but we found it to be rather large for NYC. We also read reviews that the bed was not comfortable but we thought it was quite comfortable. We had drinks at the hotel bar one evening and had a delightful experience. The bartender was very personable. At checkout, the gentleman was very curtious and asked us specific questions about our stay. Although our room did not have much of a view, it was a great location and central to everything. The hotel is literally directly connected to Grand Central Station. There were many good restaurants in the area. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would stay at this hotel again.
- Pros: Service, Space, Ambience, Elegance
Excellent location and beautiful hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently and we were very impressed. The hotel is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. There is a huge sitting area in the lobby that was very comfortable and great for relaxing. The location was also ideal being right next to Grand Central. We were able to hop on and off the subway easily and because of that got to see a lot of New York during our stay. The hotel was also within walking distance of Times Square and other tourist locations. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay here again.
Providing for business needs, without much personality.

The Scene
This hotel next to Grand Central Station delivers efficiency but not a lot of charm. The glitzy glass and marble lobby has Donald Trump's name all over it, along with the landscaped yet disappointingly austere Sun Garden Lounge (a good place to people watch). One big plus for sports fans is that visiting baseball, hockey, basketball and football teams often stay here, making it a good place for autograph hunting and gawking at multimillion-dollar ballplayers.
The Details
The 1,311 rooms are airy and comfortable. Corporate travelers are especially catered to. For a nominal charge the Hyatt Business Plan provides free access on local, credit card and 800-number calls, express continental breakfast, morning newspaper and 24-hour access to business machines. On site you'll find business and fitness centers and the corporate-looking Commodore Grill.
Upscale hotel's comfortable rooms and modern business facilities appeal to both business and leisure travelers.

In Short
Soon after the first Hyatt hotel opened in Los Angeles in 1957, Hyatt hotels and resorts became known for their dramatic atrium lobbies and their ability to express local flavor. Rooms feature beds with Sealy brand mattresses and down comforters, flat-screen TVs with cable access, wireless Internet, iPod-adaptable alarm clock/radios, Starbucks coffee and Portico bath products. Travelers enjoy the convenience of hotel and airline check-in kiosks, fitness facilities, multiple business centers and ample meeting spaces.
Superb central location; courteous helpful staff; well-appointed, comfortable, fairly large rooms

Stayed here for four days in August 2006. Now known as the Grand Hyatt New York. Excellent service at check in and throughout stay. Adjacent and connceted to Grand Central Station, it could not be in a more convenient location. Rooms are modern, uncluttered and quite nicely appointed. Some bathrooms are larger than others. Back rooms do not enjoy much of a view, but they are quiet. Rooms overlooking 42nd Street have better views, but are slightly noisier, but not at all a distraction. Pricey at full rate, but I would not hesitate to return or to recommend.
- Pros: Location, service, room quality
- Cons: A bit pricey

- Cons: None, None, None
Don't stay here!

The rooms were dirty and the staff in the restaurant was appallingly rude. The Howard Johnson's at Newark Airport is probably nicer than this place, and probably costs a lot less than the ridiculous $300/night (w/ Triple A "discount") room. Save your money and stay somewhere less expensive with nicer rooms and a nicer staff.
Good Value

Stayed for 4 nights in November. The hotel itself is nothing special but the room was a decent size with all of the amenities I would have expect. The bathroom could use some updating however the bed was very comfortable. There was no street noise from our room but you could hear doors closing and people talking in the hall. The location is great, right by Grand Central Station. There is a good fitness room as well. We paid 140 per night on Priceline which is excellent value for this hotel.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Bathroom
