Surprisingly homey digs in Midtown.

The Scene
Feel free to sing in the shower while you're here, for you may as well be at home--the one- and two-bedroom suites are located in a former apartment building. Despite Leona's shark-like reputation, her staff is friendly and will work hard to make your stay pleasant, even if you aren't a dignitary visiting the nearby United Nations.
The Details
The 192 rooms are spread over seventeen floors. They have been recently refurbished and redecorated. All come with refrigerators, some with kitchenettes and still others with terraces. They contain three phones with two lines each, and fax machines are available on request. The multi-lingual staff keeps pace with the U.N.-area setting. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast, and has a beauty salon among its amenities.

My sister and I were in for a birthday weekend (mine) and enjoyed the hotel. Even though it is an older hotel, we loved the suite we reserved. It was large, with plenty of closets and a kitchen area (that was a surprise) I especially loved the old doors and decor of the hotel. The other thing I noticed was how quite our room was. Being in New York, I expected to hear a lot of noise, but my sister and I slept well and were never awakened. Also liked the location of the hotel. Close to everything. Staff was very nice also.
