A boutique well-situated near the United Nations.

The Scene
Decorated with warm woods, colorful murals and amorphous metal sculptures, this hotel is a funky yet comfortable alternative to more standard neighborhood establishments. There's even a gallery off the lobby where it showcases the works of contemporary artists.

The Details
The 130 guest rooms and suites have been individually decorated in a traditional manner. They feature four-poster beds and Regency-style furnishings, and are outfitted with free Wi-Fi. Most rooms have uncommon amenities such as refrigerators. Lily's Restaurant and Bar serves light fare in a Technicolor setting. Complimentary breakfast is included. There's an off-site health club where guests can unwind at a discount.

Urban Bed and Breakfast

by sharopooks

Excellent and quaint city B and B - excellent complimentary breakfast; cool, quaint and comfortable room; convienent location and very nice terrace overlooking parts of the city - also, there is free internet access in the lobby and you can make free local calls from your room. Room size was perfect but could of used a coffee table or something to eat on (we just pulled up two chairs which worked fine, but...), furniture was B and B style and very comfortable. Downside: our shower had extremly low pressure and the hot/cold wasn't all that stable- however we talked to people in lower floors (we were on the 15th) and they said their shower was fine. You get a lot for moderate prices and we would stay there again!

  • Pros: Free Breakfast, Comfortable rooms, Location
  • Cons: Wanted a coffee table, So-so water pressur

do you feel lucky?

I'm not sure how to rate this hotel. The rooms are nice, could use a little updating. We stayed in two rooms, the first was nice, comfortable and fairly quiet (some street noise, even though it was the 10th floor). The shower was strong and hot. Then, the electricity went out in our room! Well, after some investigation, they moved us to a new room. This room was bigger, but a little older looking, and the heating pipes made an awful racket all night long. The shower was weak and not too great. First night rating = 8, second night = 5. Probably would not stay there again...

An Artful Midtown Bargain

by BryanMiller_Citysearch

I always send out of town visitors to this cheeful and efficient hotel right in midtown. The service could not be nicer and the rooms are clean and colorful.

One of the managers explained to me that Jim Knowles, the proprieter, was a fulltime sculptor and painter before accidentally getting in to the hotel business -- thus the bronze sculptures outside and original art in most of the rooms.

It's like a family hostelrie.
