Nice Hibachi Spot in the City
by bxlatina1023
The chefs were great and entertaining. It was a great first experience with Hibachi. Would defintely go back if I was in the city and in the mood for Hibachi. This place is great for groups.
- Pros: Really good Food
- Cons: Parking in the city is always a problem
Knife-wielding chefs put on a show at this communal Japanese grill.

In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.
Great!

Great place to go to with a few pals. Very entertaining, and lively. I had a great experience, friendly staff and nice environment!
- Pros: Ambiance
- Cons: Not a place for a date
Great if you get a good chef and your primary goal is entertaining children

You don't go to Benihana bacuase you love Japanese food. You don't go to Benihana because you are getting together with a group of friends and you want to go somewhere for tasty bites and a good time. You go to Benihana because you have a group of under 10 year olds and you want to entertain them in a place that has a little more substance than Chuckee Cheese or the Olive Garden. I know that sounds mean and I probably shouldn't be that harsh because the fact is my family and I enjoyed the time we had with our friends there this past Friday. But that was in spite of the fact that the service was shoddy, the chef was boring and the food was at best mediocre. The kids didn't notice though and they could be as loud as they wanted and in the end, I guess that's why these guys are in business.
- Pros: Kid Friendly
- Cons: Food, Service

- Pros: food, service, originality
- Cons: weak drinks
Restaurant?
by nycjklee
This place was one of the worst restaurant experience for me. Restaurant took the reservation for my frineds birthday dinner and they gave away seats to other people and ended up not giving us a table and did not even appologize. Management seemed careless about the situation and the place is may be good for quick bathroom use.
- Pros: None
- Cons: everything
good food, not so friendly staff
by cp48851
having been to other benihana locations, we decided to quench our craving for hibachi on a recent vacation in the city...seating was prompt, but our waitress was curt to say the least...the chef was accomodating yet somewhat impersonal as well...overall great food as always, but the crew should definately cheer up!
- Pros: great sushi, super tasty food
tropical drinks make any dinner fun!
by amberleigh
this was my first time at a benihanas restaurant and me and my girlfriends had the best time. the tropical drinks are great, the rice is great, the filet mignon is great, and the show is great. i think that it also depends on who you sit next to and how your chef is. we were next to the funniest people but our chef could have been a little more fun. but i would recommend this to anyone not just because of the show, but the food is great too. especially the sauces they give you to dip your meat into. mmmm.
