Service...out of this world, Food...not so much
by Meatking
People keep telling me this is a great Rodizio because I always rave about the Rodizio's I go to. But after visiting this place I just don't see this Rodizio being on my Top 5 list of Rodizio's. I am going to point out the right and wrongs about this place.
First of all I want to commend this place for the best service I have ever experienced at a Rodizio. The whole time I never had to ask for anything, My drink was always full, my eatting area was always cleaned (new clean plate every 10 mins). But great service comes with a big price. It's definitely one of the most expensive Rodizio I have ever been to at $60.00 per person.
Ok, now let's talk about the most important part of a Rodizio, the MEAT and food. I didn't see much variety of meats, it was the basic selection of chicken ,beef, and pork. The place lacked some variations of beef cuts and the meat was mostly cooked to medium and medium well. A lot of the Rodizio's that I have been to ask you how rare you want the meat to be, Plataforma doesn't really ask, and if you ask them to cut you a rare slice of meat, it's still medium. But the meat they use are definitely the best grade of meat you can get. Also this place isn't really creative on the "Bacon wrap meats" (ex. chicken wrap in bacon, turkey wrap in bacon). I have been to some places that had everything they served wrapped in bacon, it's a little excessive but you can never have too much bacon. Three things bothered me about the meat they served, first is the fact that they serve Ham as one of their meats. Ham is for breakfast not for a Rodizio, Second is that they don't have a cut of prime ribeye steak, They have a great prime rib but no prime ribeye steak, I think prime ribeye steak is one of the most delicious steaks, it's a must have at any rodizio and lastly they don't have an unique meat, for example, alligator, quill, duck, pigeon (no pigeon in NYC? come on?!?) or frog legs, something that you don't see or normally eat. i think duck would have been a nice addition to their list of meats. Enough about the meats and lets get to the other stuff. Their salad bar is definitely very very nice, good variation, some sushi, seafood and very fresh greens. some different about this place are their list of sides, you get to pick from a dozen list of sides that goes with your meats. And yes like everyone said they have a great wine list.
My rating was really based on how the meats were and it didn't stand out for me. Yes they do have a lot sides but I eatting at a Rodizio to stuff myself with sides and they do have a great wine list, but any decent red wine will do for me. Yes the service is great and the place is fancy but I am not going to a Rodizo to impress my date while I eat a few lbs of meat (oh yea that's definitely impressive). When you go to an rodizios you want to be impressive by the different cuts of meat and how well they are cooked and experience unique flavors and this place just didn't do it for me. I would give it a 4 but the price I had to pay for a place like this is kind of a let down.
note: If you want to try some great rodizios go to newark,nj.
- Pros: The Service is the best I have ever experienced at a Rodizio
- Cons: Varity of Meat is low
A true churrascaria in NYC
by ABrazilian
Great variety of meats and salad bar. The service is top notch. Make sure to request PICANHA NOBRE to your servant...its the best and most expensive cut. :O) Trust me, this is just like nice churrascarias in Brazil. Make sure to go there hungry.
- Pros: quality/variety of meats
- Cons: nothing

Food was good for the first hour but then you eat yourself into a steak hang over! Wayyyy too over priced for something that will put you out of commission for a week.
Great Steakhouse for parties of 4 or 5 +
by Straks
Really filling and high quality meats. Flip the red to green and the waiters will come over and cut fantastic meat over your plate. Good for parties but also pricey. They also have a great seafood buffet and salad buffet as well. Drinks are expensive but I think you can get a group deal for a cheaper then eating with one person. Which brings me to the next point it is not the type of place you bring a date. But I recommend it for sure.
- Pros: Fun, energetic, good eats
- Cons: expensive and filling
Immaculately clean, awesome food and service.
by MS109
I've been in their kitchen, it's IMMACULATELY clean. It's one of the only places in NY whose kitchen I have been in and wouldn't hesitate for a second to eat there. The food is some of the best I have eaten, the atmosphere in the dining area is amazing. Take a few moments looking up from your plate at the cieling. The service and settings... All top notch.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: None
Unbelievable!!!
by kpazul87
I was told not to eat anything all day before I come here. I'm glad I followed the instructions. I didn't go crazy with the meat because there was so many other delicious dishes to try. Everything was fresh and yummy. There is a plenty of seafood and they bring to your table rice, beans, polenta, fried bananas, homemade steak sauce, cheese bread 9t o die for), and mashed potatoes. Not to mention there are people coming over to your table with racks of prime rib, short ribs, chicken, sausage, and several different cuts of steak. Yeah, and then there is a dessert cart which will add that extra sweet taste you will need.
Snooty Service for a wannabe Foga De Chao
by foodcritic24
You get what you pay for. The food is good and the price is high.
Unfortunately, you also get snooty service. What baffles me is how an entirely unoriginal concept could be so snooty about its service. When you go to Daniel, Per Se, etc - they are warm and welcoming and you have a great experience.
I didn't see any Michelin stars on the wall, nor people queuing like at the Little Owl, but yet several of their employees, including "Ricardo" treated us as if we were lucky to be there.
The real luck is that I can stop by a better version of a Brazillian steakhouse in Dallas or Atlanta, where people have better manners.
- Cons: Group Dining Nightmare!
Great food, service could be better

We ate there on Mother's Day and I accounted for that fact in my review. Party of 6 adults. We were seated reasonably quickly with a full house. Head waiter greeted us but was rarely seen during the dinner. No wine list offered. We had little attention from the drink waiter (surprising as this is a big money-maker for them) and had to repeatedly ask for wine and beer replenishments. The headwaiter assisted with some drink orders near the end of dinner after I flagged him down. He was friendly and polished.
Desert was a bit hodge-podge. The cart was rolled in and we made selections and were served. Coffee was not even offered as there was no drink waiter. We had to flag one down.
Port wine was offered and I think it was comp'ed or part of the desert service.
Had a good time - the buffet, sides and the meat courses were all very fresh and flavorful. The meat waiters were attentive.
- Pros: Food - perfectly cooked meats and fresh buffet
- Cons: Service was a bit off but OK
A must try for any serious carnivore

Wow! Went with my co-workers for the first time on a Thursday night. The entire staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Our host made a great wine recommendation, but heck, I went for the meat and I was definitely "blown away" by the sheer quantity and quality. An endless parade of 15 juicy, tender perfectly prepared cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, a suckling pig, two kinds of ribs and my favorite, the leg of lamb. It was the best I've ever had! Even the salad and casserole bar was impressive. The freshness and quality gave us a hint at what was in store for us with the main course. Great for group dining, we had a blast. I'll definitely be back!
- Pros: Great food, and service. Reasonable parking across the street
- Cons: Loud live Jazz band made it hard to hear the waiters and our conversation
Top notch!

As you walk in from a wintery NYC evening, you embrace the one you love and bring her into a romantic atmosphere. The hostess seats you, then you are serviced by a front and back waiter to cater to your every need. The delectable, yet filling appetizer bar awaits you..Dont eat too much of this!!!! Then its meat time, my wife had never tried the lamb but only to say it had taken the prize of being her #1 choice of the evening,
I would reccomend this restaurant in NYC and staying in Midtown W 49th..Between 6 & 7. This is a first class experience to share with someone you love..I did!
- Pros: Great waitstaff, amazing food!
- Cons: Go on an empty stomach, savor the time, it wasnt long enough!
