What users are saying:
Petros the waiter is a Greek God!
by candydarling
I stumbled across this restaurant one summer day walking aimlessly around Hell's Kitchen. I was feeling very lonely that day and thought some good food and a bottle of wine would help lift my spirits. I walked in and was seated promptly, which I liked. My waiter, Petros, was simply incredible. When I first saw him approaching, I must admit, I was a little scared. He was very imposing and looked like he didn't really shave or iron his clothes, but as soon as he spoke I felt completely at ease (and strangely fascinated). I was visibly flustered and Petros, seeing this, calmed me with a simple "Ish OK!" I think he was trying to say "It's Ok" but couldn't quite pronounce it right, being Greek and all. I found this irresistible. The restaurant was in between the lunch and dinner shifts, thus very quiet, which allowed Petros to give me his full attention which I savored more than the delectable greek cuisine which I was served. We talked and Petros told me about being a little boy in Greece, running and playing on the numerous islands during the summer months. I could have stayed there all night with him.
- Pros: Petros Petros Petros... and the food, but who cares.
- Cons: That Petros has two days off a week(wed and sun).
Bad service, Bad food, Bad restaurant

The bald headed waiter was a real peice of sh*t. Totally ignored my table and simple requests. This guy had a real attitude and needs a swift kick in the rear. The food made us sick.. I would say you can have better dining experience in a homleless shelters soup kitchen. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!
- Pros: None
- Cons: spoiled food, Horrible waiter
Great for Delivery!
by TheTripChick
I need to preface my review by letting you know that we didn't actually venture in to Uncle Nick's, we ordered delivery.
We ordered avgolemono soup, a side order of roasted potatoes, horiatiki salad, Kotopoulo kebob platter, Gyros platter and Yiaourti. The order arrived quickly and the hot items were still nice and hot. The soup was good but not as lemony as I prefer. The roasted potatoes were one of the highlights of our meal - wonderfully flavorful and lemony. The salad and platters were great and offered huge portions. The Yiaourti was the other highlight of the meal...the yogurt impossibly thick and creamy, topped with walnuts and honey. Delectable!
Take a little vacation @ Uncle Nick's Ouzaria on 9th Ave.

This is perfect place to stop and smell the roses; I loved the cheery atmosphere. Great place to go sip wine and pick and share a variety of mouth watering dishes. I felt like I was at a little wine tavern in Santorini. I recommend the shrimp saganaki or the flambeed Saganaki is a good way to impress your date while you sample from their impressive wine list.
- Pros: Best Greek food I've eaten in NYC
- Cons: the tapas bar is good for small groups and dates
Best Greek Food in Hells Kitchen
by Juliette East
I?ve had dinner reservations as well as take out order from Uncle Nicks. The staff has always been courteous and attentive, the food is delicious and the restaurant itself is very clean. I love the relaxed atmosphere. I strongly recommend Uncle Nicks.
- Pros: Good FOOD
- Cons: No NJ locations
good lunch
by lizbazos
I had a great souvlaki chicken sandwich today...the only drawback was that it seems to take forever and the order girl seems really overwhelmed. I'd like to go back and try dinner, although it seems suprisingly expensive for what it is.
- Pros: good food
- Cons: slow service
Makes you realize why the Greeks don't have an empire any more
by leefrank
Rude, unhelpful and liars to boot. Despite my reservation I was given what I thought was the worst table so I asked to wait until another one opened up. Ten minutes later I was given an even worse table, opposite the kitchen door, where they stacked the plates. When I asked the waiter to move us to a table i saw that had opened up, he told me there was no table available. Who you gonna believe, me or your own eyes?
The food took incredibly long to get to the table, and the spinach pie had a soggy crust. It had been clearly sitting in the kitchen since they built the Parthenon.
Don't go, don't go, don't go, don't go.
Flaming cheese
by cafe_racer
If you like cheese, try the flaming cheese. You won't be disappointed. Otherwise, I always get either the gyro plate or the Spanakopita. The place is always crowded, so you know that the food is good. Just don't sit outside on the back patio in the summer cause you will get dripped on by the air conditioners.
- Pros: Good food.
- Cons: Sometimes there is a wait.
The worst service outside of Somalia

DONT GO!!!
I've lived next to this restaurant for 8 yrs. They're food tastes good, no question. However, they keep increasing the prices, and decreasing quantity. Add to that one of the rudest owners and waitstaff I've ever encountered, and I vow never to give them another dollar of mine. There are lots of restaurants around, give your business to someone who actually wants it. These guys are a bunch of a*sholes.
- Pros: decent food
- Cons: everything else is horrible
Best Greek food in NY!
by findgoodfood
While exploring the hell's kitchen area, I found this place by "mistake" or more likely by some good luck. We walked up & down the streets around there looking for a decent priced place to eat dinner, when we decided on a place across the street...the menu selection was bland and the service lousy - never saw our waiter after he seated us, left after 10 minutes...That's when we went to Uncle Nick's. The food was DELICIOUS, and plenty of it! What flavor on the meats! The lamb and pork just melted in my mouth. The layers of flavors were intoxicating! And the flaming cheese...YUM. It was tasty and perfectly "flamed"(?). We took home a couple of desserts, which were incredible. The service, including the handsome Greeks with their accents, was also outstanding. Our water never went empty and our food came within minutes after our horsdeurve (cheese). They have an impressive selection of Greek and other wines, and the one the waiter recommended was perfect with our meal. I can't wait to visit again then next time I'm in NY.
- Pros: Flavors, menu selection, service, atmosphere, amount of food
- Cons: only open until 11 pm
