Not Good..

by brownalex

i didnt like the food or the atmosphere. well, the food was alright. too snooty and expensive for what it is. the wine list is almost too extensive...it seems to be trying too hard. any way the wait staff was nice.

i really don't understand all the 4-5 star reviews...

Good place!

by pf15

I've been going to Bello since 1989. That''s when it was one of the only good restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. If you like veal you must try the stuffed veal. It's not on the menu but it's the nightly special every night. Go hungry because this dish is enough for two people. Some foodies say that you can tell a good Italian restaurant by it's Chicken Parm. Well the chicken and Veal parm is off the hook! Bello definitely caters to the older money crowd. But all-ages come here...and so should you!

  • Pros: The food- Stuffed Veal Chop
  • Cons: I can't think of one..

Fine Italian Food

by killblondes

The food at Bello's was fantastic. I went with a group of people and there were no complaints. Chicken parmesean, alfredo and chicken were great.

Pretty good, not great. Family style atmosphere.

by cse1973

I'm from the provinces, so any restaurant in Manhattan that you can get a main course for under 20 is attractive. I had the mussels, they were tasty, but for the same price I get 3x better in my town (Houston). The side vegetables were inedible.

The service was old school sweet and attentive to the single, female diner. I only had to wait a few minutes for a table.

The tables are very close, it is not romantic at all. But good for single diner, eavsedropping.

My main gripe $8 a glass for a very low quality chianti. That's how they stay in biz, I guess.

  • Pros: Good value, very sweet, sincere staff
  • Cons: the house wine is bad and overpriced

Great neighborhood Italian

by angiebnyc

I always enjoy eating at Bello. The decor and service you receive surpasses anything you will find along 9th avenue. This place has been in business a while and has consistently delivers on quality. I also used their private party room- which everyone seemed to enjoy.

  • Pros: decor, free parking with dinner, menu

Terrible experience. The food was wonderful, however... My husband doesn't like vegetables and made a point to ask the waiter if he could have a side of pasta instead. The waiter said "sure". When the bill came, the side of pasta cost us almost $10. When my husband spoke to the manager, the manager apologized that the waiter changed $1.50 too much. Shouldn't the waiter tell us beforehand that there would be a charge? If we bring the matter to the manager, shouldn't he do something other than reduce the charge? Honestly, adding $8.50 for a side of pasta with tomato sauce was a rip off. Don't go. There are a lot of really cute restaurants right across the street!

  • Pros: food
  • Cons: service, cost

Wonderful place

by val1949

Have been going here for 12 years, haven't had a bad meal yet. Sometimes service is a little slow and you may have to wait for a table.

The waiters are always accomdating and the food is anything but bland. Pasta and veal dishes are exceptional . Salads, even the bread is wonderful.

I would highly recommend it.

As far as having inconsiderate people at the next table, that can happen at any restaurant in NY

  • Pros: tasty food, free parking, waiters helpful
  • Cons: slow to be seated

a fine place

by hung_lo

went there for an early business dinner midweek. seated promptly. tables well spaced. air conditioning working- fine air circulation. service almost personalized. waiter's accent was a tad thick. wine served promptly at proper temperature. ordered off the menu- caesar salad was exceptional, pasta and chicken dishes were served quickly at the proper temperature and were fine. coffee below par. prices are wonderful. a very solid place.

  • Pros: price, service, facility
  • Cons: , coffee

Nice Place horrible atmosphere

by weizel45

I went there last night expecting a nice dinner and I did get that. However while I was sitting there eating my dinner, I had 5 girls at the next table screaming, swearing, and just talking about having sex with the manager. And the funniest thing the manager was sitting right there and did nothing. I would recommend the food, but not the restaurant. Worst place I ever ate.
