Tasty sauce, oddly thick crust
by connaisseuse at Citysearch
When I think of a coal oven pie I want a good tasty thin crust. This was practically deep dish, just baked in a coal oven. The sauce was really tasty, and I liked the texture of the mozz and the flavor of the basil, but it's not traditional Italian brick/coal oven. It's more like a gourmet version of a Domino's pizza -- good if you're in the mood for thick squishy crust, but not if you're looking for classic thin crust coal oven.
Great Pizza!!!

Everything was perfect the night we went to Angelo's. The food, service, atmosphere, one of my best experiences in a pizzeria. The pizza was very good This is the kind of place you come in w/ some friends (or alone) and end up staying for hours w/o realizing. We look forward to coming back to this restaurant in the future.
Give this place a try, you will be glad you did!
EXTREMLY RUDE HOSTESS AND SAD LOOKING WAIT STAFF
by NiceJewishGirl83 at Citysearch
First of all I did enjoy this pizza the few times that I have been here, but I am NEVER going back. Last night I arrived as a party of three. The hostess offered us a table, but we asked if we could sit at a the table across. She let us know in her VERY BAD ENGLISH by letting us know that it was a table for five by saying 'five' ... 'five people'. So we sat where we were shown. After we had started ordering and our plates came, there was a large group who came in who had some children and strollers. The hostess was gone so the manager had to direct them upstairs. The hostess then returned, and when one of the fathers or men in the group asked about his folded up stroller she stuck up her nose and shrugged her shoulders (literally) when he was clearly pointing out that it was an extreme inconvience to bring the stroller upstairs. I was soo irritated!!
Ever time I eat here, the wait staff is very sad looking and shows no energy or even a smile while on the job. You can always find them upstairs near the bathrrom/bar area sitting around also. (and by the way, the bathrooms were DISGUSTING!!! last night). So while enjoying my dinner the music that was on which was a little loud, and was playing RAP MUSIC... which totally turned me off to the food and made me focus on the rather horrible ambience this place has to offer now. What manager/owner would let rap music play in a little more than casual pizza restaurant???? So when I left, the hostess magically dissapeared and I asked one of the waiters what the hostess' name was. He would not give me to me and told me I had to talk to the manager. I didn't really want to wait around to talk to the manager, so I left. So please if you want to eat here, I suggest you order over the phone or not at all. You wont have to deal with a snotty hostess and sad-looking wait staff. Oh, and to top everything off, there was a mosquito flying around me, when no windows were open... nice....
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: Horrible ambience, Horrible stafff
Changed to Serafina after Angelos stood me up on delivery - not a phone call - not an apology
by rg212 at Citysearch
Pizza is only good if it gets to you and Angelos has just lost me forever! 45 minutes after ordering for delivery, I called to chase the order because it hadn't arrived. The girl told me they hadn't put it into the kitchen yet, and frankly, she could not have cared less. Business must be pretty good not to care about service.
So I canceled the order and tried Serafina at 55th and Broadway.
Oh my God, I'm never going back to Angelos. I found pizza heaven. I thought Angelos was good until I had the pizza at Serafina. And since they are new, they are much nicer to the customer.
Freshest pizza, best in Midtown
by dieselpr at Citysearch
You can taste the freshness of the ingredients used to make the pizzas in this Midtown restaurant. Although the location is convenient to some hotels it is somewhat out of the way for other things you may be doing, and the ambiance is nothing to write home about. I must stress however that the pizza sauce is better than Lombardi's, and arguably the crust might be too. Taste them both and decide for yourself.
- Pros: Pizza
- Cons: Location, no refills on soda

This Midtown West pizza joint serves traditional crispy-crusted pies and pasta dishes, with two other Midtown locations.
Quality is suffering and service is nonexistent
by gregspam76 at Citysearch
Angelo's is a far cry in both service and quality from some of the city's great pizza spots (i.e. - Lombardi's). They constantly mess up orders and are consistently late. I would fully encourage finding alternatives as you will be disappointed.
- Pros: none
- Cons: read description

Best Pizza in NYC
by adabada79 at Citysearch
My husband and I just went to Angelo's Pizza last night! It was phenomenal! I dare say it was just as good or even better than Patsy's or John's! The service was great. We were in and out in a half an hour. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. We would come back without a doubt! I'm actually craving the pizza as I'm typing this review:)
- Pros: The pizza!
- Cons: None
Good food at affordable prices
by nyckrissy at Citysearch
Honestly I did not have their pizza so I can't comment on that. We ordered family style and the portions were large and the quality generally good. Excellent - Fried Zucchini & Eggplant with Garlic Yogurt Dipping, Penne Alla Vodka (perfect - al dente and good sauce), Linguine Del Pescatore. Not as good - Spaghetti Di Grano Duro Con I Vegetali (whole wheat pasta was a bit grainy). The salads were all good.
- Pros: affordable eating in midtown NY
