I'm from LA visiting Manhatton, NY for business. Wondee is one of the great Thai food that I received reccomence to tried out and sure I did, traditional kept on the appearance and so tasty like you having Thai food in Thailand. I have not see the grumpy old man that most of you mentioned. The service was great. Friendly and OK timing for food to arrived. Owner so nice, not speck much english, but sure knows how to cook best Thai food. There are 3 branches on the same street #4 is on the way and on the same street as well. I sure reccomend these place to you all that love Thai food to try out yourself.

me and my family went to nyc for a 4 day vacation, and on the last night we were going to get some chineese food, but we didnt want to go into china town as it was so far from the hotel. so while me and my little brother were swiming in the pool at the skyline hotel, our parents went down to the bar, and asked about a good chinese resturant. the bartender recomended mee's chinese resturaunt, but we found wondees and thought that our parents just mis enturpeted it. so we go in there and order. the old waiter i see alot of you complaining about was very nice to us, and most plesent. so maybe you just caught him on a bad day. i dont remember what exactly it was called that we orderd, but it was amazingly good! everything about it was a delight! i would return there in an instant!
Pros: awsome food
Cons: tiny area

I had a similar bad experience with the same older head waiter at Wondee Siam 2. We had ordered the special with chicken that night. The order came out as the special with shrimp. I am not able to eat shrimp as I am allergic to shell fish. So I tell this older waiter that I had ordered the chicken and the order was incorrect. He tried everything in his power to convince me that I had ordered the shrimp! I know that I would never order the shrimp because I cant eat it and havent eaten shrimp EVER!!! after about 3 minutes of trying to convince me that I ordered the shimp, I guess he finally realized he wasnt going to win this fight. But this experience left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I used to be a regular customer in the restaurant. Now I just go to Q Thai.

I am an American who can understand Thai fluently. While dining at Wondee Siam 2 with a friend last week, I overheard the older head waiter who takes the customer's orders making very unflattering comments about certain women who were dining. Granted, it was in Thai and other people wouldnt have understood, but I did. Very unprofessional and a disgrace to Thai people. I was so offended I will not eat here anymore.
Pros: decent thai food
Cons: HEAD WAITER, portions have gotten MUCH smaller over time

I tried this place a few times. Their service seem to get worst each time I went. The service was slow and their waiters seem to ignore you. The food was average at best. Their dishes were dirty the first two times I went.
Pros: Bad service overall
Cons: Avoid, too small

Ended up at this 9th ave thai and was impressed with the thai style (chopped) basil beef. Have had it in dozens of places and this was at the top. The green curry is also right up there as well. If you are looking for Thai in nyc...you will not regret chowing down here.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Small

This place is the best and so cheap, plus they will make the food thai spicy if you ask them. Great for vegetarians too! It's small inside but you can always take it to go.

This shoebox of a restaurant churns out authentic Thai dishes at reasonable prices. It's a simple joint with great food - need I say more? I like the Yum Woon Sen (spicy glass noodles) and Lemon Grass Chicken amongst other dishes like Pad Thai and Fried Rice. If you need some greens the watercress is good cooked slightly spicy (Thai style). I frequent the original Wondee located East side of 9th and enjoy the casual neighborhood setting. Plain little restaurnat with delicious food! Yum!
Pros: Thai food, Simple, Price
Cons: Small

Definitely one of the best Thai places around New York! 'Nuff said! Anyhow, for more seating space with a newer environment Wondee Siam II just across the street from Wondee Siam is probably better. The food at II was initially more Americanized but I think it's changed with customer feedback from fans of the original (which is unfortunately extremely small and cramped). To make sure you're getting authentic Thai-style dishes (which is spicier), simply tell the waiter at Wondee Siam II! That's what the boss lady told us to do when we informed her we still preferred the smaller joint's cooking and we've had great Thai there ever since. Everything's good!
Pros: Reasonable prices, Great Thai cooking, Friendly service
Cons: If you're not Asian,, they may try to, Americanize the food
