Used to love it --- now r0aches and a bad attitude
by pbord3
I used to love this place when I lived in NY in the 90s, but after a recent visit where we saw two c0ckroaches in the dining area I am afraid we can never go back.
I spoke to the staff immediately but they shrugged it off. I wrote the management but they never replied. How many c0ckroaches is too many in NYC? If the food were great I might reconsider but if the kitchen cleaners are as apathetic as the staff....well, I won't be going back.
- Pros: location
- Cons: Unclean, deplorable service, and fair at best food
Best salad bar ever
by theonlyvic
I'm completely addicted to the Mangia salad bar. An amazing range of choices, with particularly incredible grain salads. Really good salad dressing too. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it.
- Pros: Amazing salad bar
- Cons: On the expensive side
small critters in my salad
by Jos56
I will never order from Mangia again. I found several in sects in my salad, which I got delivered at my workplace. When I phoned and spoke with a 'manager', he told me that it happens sometimes when they forget to wash the lettuce... He said they sell 300 salads a day, and it is to be expected. Be careful if you decide to eat here!
- Pros: nada
- Cons: in-se-ct-s
Quick lunch
by happipatti976
I stop in here every now and then when I want a warm lunch and fast. They are quick, the food is fine, but its a bit pricey. OH well, I guess that is midtown. I do like that it is very spacious and open.
- Pros: quick and easy
- Cons: pricey
I FOUND A RO@CH IN MY FOOD
by spotless12
I had a salad from the open salad bar at this place. Sat down to eat my lunch back at the office and found a RO@CH IN THE FOOD. PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE. My company has ordered food from here for years and I was quite disappointed by the reaction of the cashiers. They made it seem as if it were my fault. So please spend your money somewhere else.
- Cons: Not clean
Great cafe spot
by killerasp
This cafe is a notch above the rest. With everything from gourmet sandwiches, pizza, desserts, and salads, it may seem like your average NYC cafe, but dont let it fool you. The incredients are nothing but fantastic. While the price is somewhat more than average, its worth it. Best part its right next to Central Park. So pick up some sandwiches and desserts and have yourself a nice picnic in the park.
- Pros: Great variety of food
- Cons: a bit above average prices, but worth it
lunch
by tedwookie
Ordered lunch and the salads are overpriced, dressings are watered down, and a blind one handed person could have made a more tasty salad. If you pay close to $10 for a salad it should at least look appealing. They also forgot one of our lunch orders. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
- Cons: Expensive, Food not good
overall bad experience
by klughaupt
Stopped by Sat. night for post-dinner, pre-show cappuccino and pastries.
the cake was just about the driest and nastiness I ever had. Must have been sitting around all day. I had to return the cappucino because it was about 90% foam. Only one nasty bathroom for the whole place. And of course everything is midtown NYC prices.
GREAT

Doesn't Get Any Better Than This
by jakemendelsohn
Mangia is the perfect lunch spot. Always crowded but you'll never wait long, this place has it down! The food is always delicious and the menu varies quite a bit with daily specials. It combines the elegance and charm of a European Bistro with an immense selction only available in New York. Try it for dinner!
- Pros: Efficeint
- Cons: Limited Seating
