Flute is so cozy it's one of my favorite lounges. There are so many little romantic corners that it's a great date spot. They also have some bigger spaces for groups- I had my birthday party there and we all had a great time. I love the Antoinette cocktail it's so yummy! and the tomato parmesean tart is delicious. They even serve strawberries and cream as a dessert and what goes better with champagne than that?!
Pros: Great cocktails and delicious appetizers
Cons: A little small so make a reservation

My boyfriend took me there last saturday and we had a really nice expereince. The cocktails were amazing, and the service was fantastic. Our waiter was very nice and recommended one of the best drinks I've had. The music was great! This is definatly a fun place to go. I'll definatly be coming back. The only cons are it was hard to get a table and they need to turn the lights up a little.

I went there for the first time back in 2005 and loved the place. Great champagne and wonderful service not to mention the atmosphere. I went there the other night and my boyfriend proposed to me there and the staff was wonderful. They treated us so nice and gave us complimentary strawberries with our champagne. The service as usual was excellent as well as the recommendations on champagne. I will absolutely go back - way before my 1 yr anniversary!
Pros: Service and Great Champagne

I prefer the Gramercy one because it's darker and there are more "private" sofas, but I absolutely love this romantic, seductive lounge. Great drinks, service never disappoints. Every girl I've brought here was pleased... nothing like cuddling with your chick & the soft pillows after a few drinks.
Pros: romantic, comfy
Cons: hard to find if you haven't been here

I had a party last Wednesday with some friends for my birthday. FANTASTIC! We were greatly welcomed by a very nice hostess who brought us to the table we had reserved. Then the waitress came up with wonderful Champagne cocktails which were all delicious (you have to get the Champagne Mojito)! We also got some Champagne tasting flight to test different kind of Champagne. The service was great and moreover a jazz band was performing very well that night (I think they have a jazz band every Wednesday). I will come back for sure!
Pros: Ambience, Service, drinks
Cons: none!

While I enjoyed the wide selection of champagnes and the friendly and attentive service, I had been expecting a bar full of young, beautiful people but was instead surrounded by a bunch of middle aged men who looked like they were cheating on their wives with tackily dressed women in the bar's many dark corners. In addition, the bar was only half full the Saturday night I was there, making the lackluster decor all the more noticeable. If you're only looking for good champagne and quiet conversation, I would recommend Flute. If you're looking for a luxurious and tasteful bar to impress a date (and you should be if you're willing to shell out for a bottle of champagne), I think you have to look further than Flute.
Pros: attentive service
Cons: expensive, tacky crowd

Flute used to be my regular date spot years ago so I was surprised to read the bad reviews. For old times sake, my husband and I stopped in a few weeks ago for a glass of champage and had quite a familiar experience as we always had. Our host was pleasantly chatty, the waitress was prompt and we never really had to wait for anything. We watched the staff joke and laugh together which gave the sub-level lounge alot of fresh, positive energy! We did try to go back a couple of weeks ago, but the bar and lounge was full with private parties. However so, he offered an apology and handed us a card, explaining this time of year is busy and it's best to call for a reservation. We will call. Flute is just a good as ever. I fully intend to return, but this time I'll make a reservation.
Pros: romantic, fun staff, awesome champagne list.
Cons: if you don't make a reservation, you might not always be able to get in.

Went there on a Saturday night to meet up with a couple of old friends for a quick drink. Arrived at 9PM and was told more than once that we HAD to leave by 10:30 for a private party. We reassured them that we would be out by 10:15 as we were just planning on have one drink. Finally seated in this empty cellar and was asked to check out coats. Didn't bother and was asked again at 9:30 to check our coats by an extremely rude host. We thanked him for his consideration, but we were planning on leaving soon so we didn't want to bother. Host was irritated for no reason and said some unhost like things like "why don't you just check it, it is free" and "it is in your way so just move it". This guy was a totally in appropriate from start to finish. The waitress was nice and almost apologetic. Apparantly, he was in a bad mood and wanted to take it out on someone. Never ever returning. EVER.

What happened to Flute? After talking up the place to my guests, our experience was nothing short of painful. Our waitress was distracted, obtuse and criminally uninformed about the menu. The appetizers took 75 minutes and when they did arrive, they were brought by a member of the kitchen staff who couldn't get us a second round of cocktails. Our flutes remained empty. Ultimately, a member of our party had to go to the bar to ask for water. Meanwhile, our waitress was busy chatting up her girlfriends at another table. We asked the bartender for the check. Another 15 minutes. When it finally arrived, it wasn't ours. Sadly, the place, like our waitress, sure looked pretty but was, alas, filled with bubbles. Total disaster. p.s. - The place was about 1/3 full.
Pros: Design, Location, Décor, Menu
Cons: Service, Music (So obnoxious and LOUD - conversations are impossible)
