Great Space
by nydionysus01
I was planning for my birthday when a colleague recommended Flute. I looked into them hosting my party and was not disappointed. The manager who set up everything was terrific in helping me plan the event and the staff treated us very well. It's a great space and my friends and I enjoyed the variety of their champagne list. I will definitely be back.
- Pros: Cool space good service
Way too expensive!!!!
by AR2
We ordered some champagne after reviewing the menu. We had to look at it about 20 minutes because it was so dark we could not see. We ordered 3 glasses of champagne for $11 each. Well, it turns out they were $23 each, the first item on the menu is a HALF GLASS. When we asked the bartender about it, her comment was, "You looked at the menu for a half an hour, why didn't you read it?" Really? Not going back!!!
- Cons: Too dark to read the menu
Very romantic subterranean secret in midtown

Flute is our new favorite spot for drinks before dinner. I have walked by Flute many times and read good things so I decided to bring my wife there before our anniversary dinner this weekend.
I called midweek to reserve a quiet table and upon our arrival we were promptly seated in a quiet, private alcove. The space is very welcoming and relaxed with various sized tables and upholstered chairs and sofas arranged in clusters throughout the softly lit room. Adding to the ambiance is an eclectic soundtrack playing in the background and the welcomed absence of TVs plastered to the walls. The weekend evening crowd seemed a varied mix of sedate, upscale tourists and locals, aged 30+ and wearing everything from shorts and jeans to sport coats and cocktail dresses. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgable of the menu. We both enjoyed our drinks; I had the champagne mojito and my wife took his recommendation on a champagne since there were so many to choose. We also ordered the fruit and cheese plate and some spring roles, which were both excellent in taste and presentation. We were there for just over an hour but were so relaxed by the end that it seemed longer. We have been raving about Flute to family and friends as a great romantic spot for drinks and appetizers. We loved it and will definitely return soon.
- Pros: great space, great menu, great service
- Cons: none

BEST BAR IN MANHATTAN! Don't let anyone tell you different!
by TexasGuy28
As I was looking through City Search trying to find a place to have a drink, I stumbled across the reviews for my favorite bar in the city, Flute Midtown. I figured I'd see if others loved this place as much as I do and guess what? THEY DO! However, I did notice one negative review that totally blew my mind. I've been going to Flute for probably about 8 years and I felt it was my duty to defend it against this horrible review. ***This person is obviously crazy and should stay home at night and watch infomercials.
I've never met a sweeter staff in my life. I've ALWAYS received professional service and ALL my experiences (and there have been many) have been memorable! The drinks are amazing! Service is always fast and with a smile! The atmosphere is seductive! The weekends are always pumping with some of New York's hottest DJ's, who incidentally, don't have your typical "New York DJ" attitude.
Moral of the Story: If you want a true New York night out, forget everywhere else. Flute is where it's happening!!!
- Pros: Staff, Service, Drinks, Ambience, Location
- Cons: Sorry, can't think of any!

Don't Waste Time

Not at all recommended, Very Poor Service, Very Rude Staff. DJ sucked, did not have any social skills. Bartender apparenlty does not tend bar.
- Pros: Historic place, good atmosphere.
- Cons: Everyone that works there!!
Would think twice...

If you asked me a month ago I would've recommended this place. But the service is not befitting with the price. It's a nice place but is not distinguished in its service. For the price you pay for a drink, you can easily go somewhere else to get more for less.
I've been here a number of times. The drinks are good but not distinguishable. There are other places in the area that will offer you better drinks and service without the attitude.
I love this place

Flute is so cozy it's one of my favorite lounges. There are so many little romantic corners that it's a great date spot. They also have some bigger spaces for groups- I had my birthday party there and we all had a great time. I love the Antoinette cocktail it's so yummy! and the tomato parmesean tart is delicious. They even serve strawberries and cream as a dessert and what goes better with champagne than that?!
- Pros: Great cocktails and delicious appetizers
- Cons: A little small so make a reservation
Fun Place Great Service
by maggie718
My boyfriend took me there last saturday and we had a really nice expereince. The cocktails were amazing, and the service was fantastic. Our waiter was very nice and recommended one of the best drinks I've had. The music was great! This is definatly a fun place to go. I'll definatly be coming back. The only cons are it was hard to get a table and they need to turn the lights up a little.
