shame on your carolines
by t114139
we stood in line for an 1and 1/2 for the 12:30 show to see paul mooney. They then turned the outside lights off on a sizeable line of people, after the doorman joked with us for 20 minutes about how we would get in , in a few minutes. The couple in front of us had been waiting since 10:30 . They were sent away and told to come back at 12:00. The couple behind us had a reservation. Needless to say none of us got in. I understand that clubs get crowed and shows sell out. However one should be decent enough to come outside and tell the people on line, rather than just turning off the outdoor lights. I T t was only after we got off line and asked that we were told the show was sold out. This was my first time coming to carolines, and with such horrible customer service. I doubt that I will ever return. I would recommend attending comix instead, I've been to that comedy club, and they treat customers alot better.
- Pros: location
- Cons: terrible service
Talent great, service terrible
by zelda_cannon
I went there to see D'Vora Najee and some other new talent--they were all great, and worth the price. But the service was terrible. We didn't get a first drink until half-way through the show. There seemed to be a wait staff of 3 for a packed house. They weren't serving food yet and we were starving. But the show was first rate. I'd go again. It probably helps to be among the first seated.
- Pros: Great talent, fun atmosphere
- Cons: Two drink minimum, but there was no service to order drinks
horrible staff
by km1982
For a place that upholds a two drink minimum, you would think that the waiter would have been more attentive. He got us one drink and then disappeared! By the time I could wave him over to order a second drink, the show was almost over! Then my friends and I had to gulp down the drinks and get out so they could seat for the next show.
- Pros: comedians were funny, decently priced drinks
- Cons: horrible, horrible waiter
What a Joke!!!!!
by carhall
What a joke, this reviewer must be a manager and not want to get introuble. Try the place yourself, but you will be disappointed. The comediennes are good, but had a really bad experiences with the staff.
- Pros: Comics
- Cons: staff & Managment
Best place to laugh and enjoy life!
by mj463
The staff in general is the most courtious and joyful club. You always are greated with a smile and maybe a playful comment. And as in anyplace you will be held to be seated but only because it was worthwhile. You get to meet and great the comedians upon permision. If you dislike the club then it was because you have no sense of humor or lack of enthusiasium. I highly recommend this club to anyone who knows how to have a good time and laugh. How dare anybody say anything negative about Caroline's obviously they are tourist or stuck up. Keep up the good job!
- Pros: Service, Smiles, Laughter
- Cons: Cons?? There are none!
worst experience ever
by hollyman
First, the staff was super rude. From the moment we called to make reservation, we were treated badly. Kepted on hold for over ten minutes. Disconnected twice. When we got there it was worse. The waiters and managers were very rude, found out the only way you can get a good seat is to bribe the manager. My friend ordered food. It took forever (over 45 minutes for a basket of French fries!!!!!!) and when she finally got them they were cold, when we tried to send them back (the show was almost over) we got an attitude from everyone including the manager. Big waste of money.
- Pros: Cons out weighs them
- Cons: staff was rude, mgmt was dishonest, food was lousy
Yuucccchh. A money making machine. Go elsewher

A very disappointing experience. The only good thing is that they showcase famous people. The bad.. a laundry list: Big place that lacks intimacy, showy shows that cater to tourists who dont know any better, really terrible food (the worst chicken wings Ive EVER tasted), staff that keeps on pestering you to buy two drinks, overpriced food and drinks, and an overall feeling that the establishment all about getting your money, not about you having a good time. They will not consider a meal towards the 2-drink minimum. The chutzpah!
You walk out with an uneasy feeling that you just got screwed. DO NOT GO THERE. As long as they keep their bad attitude and rip-off policies, you should avoid them. Ive been there once, and that was enough. I will never return there again. I frequent other comedy clubs, and this was just terrible. I can't believe it got a 8.9 rating. AVOID GOING TO CAROLINES.
- Pros: Cast
- Cons: terrible food, overpriced experience, annoying staff
What a disappointment!!
by tsalisbury
I went to Caroline's last night to have dinner and then see a show. The dining room servers were unprofessional. We ordered from 4 different waiters throught the course of our meal. The food is incredibly overpriced for the quality. I had read bad reviewes of their food so I figured I'd go with pizza- usually safe. Bad choice. The $12 pizza was cold, greasy, limp and undercooked. I could feel my arteries clogging as I choked it down. Our party was not served at the same time. The first person recieved their meal 25 minutes before the last person.
I went there to see John Pinet, who was awesome. The two opening comics were very funny too. The theatre was very understaffed- 15 minutes to get a drink.
I would recommend eating and having cocktails elsewhere before seeing any comic at Carolines. Don't be left broke and disappointed!
- Pros: comics
- Cons: gross food, unprofessional staff, prices
A favorite stand-up comedy room to catch national headliners and sitcom stars.
by Contributor
This famed comedy club is a favorite space for veteran stand-up comics. The roster of past performers includes "Saturday Night Live" cast members and sitcom regulars--Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chapelle, Janeane Garofalo and Anthony Clark--though Caroline's also cultivates tomorrow's best by hosting a weekly New Talent Night on Mondays. Early arrivals can dine on a mish-mash menu of American, Italian and Pan-Asian classics in the supper lounge prior to snagging stage-side seats in the showroom.
Horrible!
by alinasuprunova
This place is a tourist trap. Once they have you inside the hard part of their day is over. The staff is rude, slow and lazy! The showroom is advertised as large but in reality everyone is sitting on top of one another, it's hard to eat or drink without hitting someones elbow next to you.
They feature good comedians, BUT the atmosphere is so horrible it's IMPOSSIBLE to enjoy the show!
Don't waste your money or your time.
