Unfriendly, Unclean

Rude, impolite, and disagreeable manager. Lifeless, lazy front desk staff. Unkempt, dirty room. Would NEVER recommend.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Staff, Service, Room
What a dump!

First room they put me in had a window that didn't lock so I asked for another room which they gave me. HOWEVER, the decor in the room was shabby and worn out, no cable TV and no hot water in the bathroom. Room was very dark and dreary with a view of a brick wall. Yes, the location is great but there are MUCH nicer hotels in the area.
- Pros: Location, Coffee Room
- Cons: No hot water, Decor, No view
Location is everything

We were close to everything. The room was clean comfortable, and everthing worked. The bed was large the TV was small, so what, you are in New York....
We were rarely in the room anyway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even brought ice to our room. Our view was a brick wall, but it cut the noise. Nice view of the street from the comfortable room where there was always hot coffee.
- Pros: bed, location, coffee room
- Cons: view, small TV
Location is the key to NYC!

We loved it! A group of us needed a centrally located hotel. We found the Moderne Hotel online. Right away it looked groovy. The setting is early 60s. The rooms were clean and the staff helped us find restaurants in the area. The subway was close as well as Time Square and Central Park. Rooms were small but who cares it was a place to throw the luggage and crash after a night on the town. My review is if you want something close thats inexpensive and clean this is the place. Location , location, location
- Pros: price, clean , location
- Cons: small room
The Jetsons meet Warhol in Manhattan.

The Scene
Chic, sleek and stylish best describe this small Midtown property. With just 34 rooms, the hotel is intimate and cozy, and the knowledgeable staff looks to personally accommodate every guest. From the small lobby furnished with space-age lounge chairs to the second-floor breakfast room, which boasts atom-looking ceiling lamps, it's hard not to feel "moderne" at this place.
The Details
All rooms feature low-to-the-ground king-sized beds. The decoration--congruent with the rest of the hotel--is straight out of "2001: A Space Odyssey." Red and blue walls provide the backdrop for silver, futuristic chairs, as well as amenities such as VCRs. Copies of Andy Warhol's Campbell Soup and Marilyn Monroe are a refreshing change from the standardized chain hotel pulp decor. Ask for a room with a window, or at least one that doesn't look out into a dank courtyard.

Looks Fabuous, but not functional

Elevator was broken, I was told the bags would be brought up to my room , after being there for 20 minutes I called to see what happened and was told they would be brought up when the elevator was fixed. I was only on the second floor!! I was told if I wanted my luggage brought up before the elevator was fixed I would have to go get it myself. The room aesthetically was great! One morning I couldnt get hot water and had to take a cold shower. The instructions on the phone from the "Amsterdam Court Hotel" said to press 8 to get an outside line, when I asked the front desk why it wasnt working I was laughed at and told to press 9. Save up a little extra money and go down the street to Le Parker Meridian!!! Its so much nicer!
- Pros: Looks
- Cons: rude staff, bad amenities
