The Scene
No matter what your interests are in New York City, this midtown Manhattan hotel is located in the perfect spot. It's convenient to Times Square for sight-seers, Fifth Avenue for shoppers, Central Park for nature lovers, Ninth Avenue for foodies and the AOL-Time Warner building (across the street) for the business set.

The Details
Don't let the somewhat bland lobby fool you--this hotel is as comfortable as any. All the rooms are decked out with the usual services, such as cable TV. Coffee, tea and newspapers are complimentary. For a special stay, check into the penthouse--the view is incredible. There are also meeting rooms for business gatherings.

Good Value

This hotel is a real bargain. It has an excellent location, and while not fancy, it offers almost all the amenities one could wish for. I stayed in a suite for the same money as a dumpy room elsewhere in New York. It is also only steps away from the subway.

Good location near Central Park, Lincoln Center

Generally good service

Downsides: MAJOR long-term construction going on across the street resulting in deafening noise.

Hotel in an old building: rooms somewhat dingy; my suitcase still smells of the acrid cleaning products used
