They do show great movies here. But 2 gripes - #1) concession line is soooo slow! Last time I was here, the line was up the stairs, & people were missing the beginning of the movie because they couldn't get through the line in time. It was very annoying & stressful, & it seems so easy to fix - space the movies further apart, add more concession people, or just work more quickly! #2) Also at that movie, there were people who had tickets but couldn't find seats (I overheard people arguing about it while I was waiting in popcorn line) - maybe they oversell...?

  • Pros: great movies
  • Cons: popcorn line too slow

We had a terrible experience at this theater, and we were not alone. We bought tickets 24 hours in advance, but the theater will typically oversell their seats to ensure a sold out house. As a result, up to fifteen people could not get seats, and many people who got seats couldn't sit together with their party. The theater managers are unwilling to help. With all the trouble, you would expect a nice theater, but the theater is a copycat version of some of the nicer theaters at Lincoln Sq. Imax, which I highly reccomend.

  • Pros: Nice part of town
  • Cons: Miserable Service and theater

The Scene
Originally conceived in the '60s as a showcase for the latest French critical success or box office smash, it broadened soon after to include a wide range of international films, both new and old.

The Draw
Always eclectic, its programming has never been corporate, though its willingness to extend the runs of popular films makes any avid filmgoer yearn for a faster turnover. Briefly the Fine Arts before returning to its original name a few years ago, the Paris has screened more revival films in recent years, good news to anyone who loves returning to the lush, handsome interior of a moviehouse that rightfully stands near to the Plaza Hotel both physically and in its level of sophistication.

The only real movie theater left in New York, without the 10 miles of concessions stands, 12 stadium sized big screens and elevators to get you there. Lush, comfortable and simple.
