Probably the best health club in New York

I have been a member since they opened in 1987. I use it primarily for the pool which is 25 yards. They keep it at the perfect temperature for lap swimming and it is immaculately clean. I have been to almost every other health club in New York as a guest and nothing compares. They open early in the morning (5:30 am) and are open on the weekends. They close the pool one week a year in December for cleaning but get you access to another pool. The staff is extremely professional -- very little turnover. Unlike many health clubs that I have been to, the staff knows what they are doing, always there to answer questions. There is just nothing better in New York.

Watch Your Wallet

I had a membership here and loved it. The gym was very clean they gave you gym clothes, which is so nice so Manhattanites don't have to carry more stuff with them to work.

The pool is amazing for NYC. I loved the staff and loved the apples that they had for their members after their workout.

However, I closed my membership because I had to move for work and it was no longer convenient.

6 months after I closed my account they charged my credit card.

Luckily, I watch my accounts very closely. I called to explain and they said it was a new system and that it wouldn't charge. However, I had to watch my account like a hawk.

They did charge....I called back...they said they were refunding...they didn't... it took 5 calls for them to do fix something that they should have been extremely apologetic and rushed to fix. I was very disappointed in the way they handled their finances and makes me very weary of what else they may have "mistakenly" charged me for when I was a member.

• Cons: Slimey With Accounting

We apologize for the inconvenience we caused you. It was our mistake, a software glitch, and we corrected it as soon as possible. Our club has been based on good service for 22 years and we credited anyone involved immediately.

Some banks and credit card companies took longer than others to post the credits. You can check that with your bank.

I'm sorry we took a good club experience for you and created a headache. The club would like to offer you complimentary visits to try and make amends. We hope to see you in the future.

Amazing Gym and Pool in Midtown

I live in CT and work in Midtown and couldn't decide did where I should join a gym. I found Atheltic & Swim Clubs 3-day trial that you can print of Citysearch so I decided to try it out. I am so glad that I did. I joined the Athletic and Swim Club 6 months ago and I love it! The facilities are beautiful and you feel as though you are in a Country Club. The have a nice, clean indoor pool and the equipment is all state-of-the-art. The best perk of the club is that provide clothes for members to workout in and press your clothes for you while you are working out so that you can go back work or out for the evening. There is no other gym in the city at this caliber. Highly recommended!!
