Covers the evolution of our world, life in it, and its peoples

I have been to the AMNH over five times, but I just won't get tired of it. Not only does it have an amazing collection of animals and dinosaur fossils, but also insights on how our planet evolved to what it is today and some of the past and present cultures around it. The AMNH is one of the sights that must be seen at least once when visiting New York, and will please children and adults alike. Don't try to cover everything in a single visit, though--you'll exhaust yourself.

Pros: Superb permanent collection, with guides who help kids understand what they see
