What users are saying:
THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN!
by P Richter
From the prices, to the staff, it is INSULTING!
1. Price:
You will pay an average of $25 for a single cigar (which you must buy one), $15 - $20 for a drink and then about $40 for a dinner entree, ... let-alone the wine list.
2. Service:
We waited for 45 miniutes to be seated even though we had a reservation! Therefore, we were forced to buy drinks at the bar, which our tab (6 drinks for 3 couples) alone was $130, without tip!
3. Staff:
My wife was un-nerved by meeting the owner of the place, (who was a short man who grabbed my wife!), spoke in broken english and you couldn't understand a word he said EXCEPT for the curses he threw out at us, as he was trying to be funny! After telling him a friend recommended this place to us while we were visiting New York, he asked for his name, and then did not know who he was. The owner seemed and sounded drunk (or high) and as he left us he tried to grab my wife again, but I stepped in and almost decked him. My sister in-law overheard the 2 female bartenders talking about their marijuana and other drug habits, their sexual encounters and also their profanitiy, as if smoking pot and snorting coke (even on the job!) was legal in New York! What kind of place is this?!?!
We were ready to leave, but our table was ready, so after traveling all this way, we wanted to see if our evening could turn better. It didn't. After paying our bar tab and snaking our way through the businessmen and hookers crowding the bar, we sat near a big painting of past celebrities smoking cigars, while the band played. The band was so loud, we couldn't hear anything. Our waiter was nice, but lazy and the food was so-so, but way overpriced! We were told that this is a cigar bar, not a 5 star restaurant! After our final tally, we spent close to $670 for 3 couples!
Don't get me wrong, it is a nice place, but it is still a smoking bar with old men, young hookers and drug-addict staff. it is unbelievable how this place stays open!
Call the police!
Cigar friendly, unsurpassed service
by wifeofcigarsmoker
Treated like we were special guests. This was before we purchased a locker. We were visiting from California, and already members of a club. Here's a Monday night at Club Macanudo: Gail Allen (a cross between Cassandra Wilson and Sarah Vaughan), and Steve Weiles Passages playing jazz, great atmosphere to smoke an even greater cigar to, superb cocktails. We left before midnight, thinking they closed then - no, they do not close until 2am - again, this is a Monday night. My husband and I just loved this place - Joey and Mauricio (the general manager) will treat you like you're family. Great experience - yes, we bought a locker, and look forward to 3-4 trips to New York to enjoy how they do it in Manhattan. Wifi would be great, as we spent a couple of hours there mid-afternoon before flying home.
- Pros: Service, Bar, Atmosphere, Live Jazz
- Cons: No wifi - yet. They are working on it.
everytime clean and fresh

This place is good for all special occasions. The service is top notch, but they also expect to be tipped that way. Everything is so clean and the food is very good. You can not not go wrong here, but you better bring a credit card, because I bet you won't have enough cash to pay for your dinner!
- Pros: food,service
- Cons: pricey
A great find
by vl1019
After a shopping expedition at Barney's (just a few blocks away), this was a great place to refuel. I'm a pushover for a good single malt and their scotch selection was amazing. I had a great time - don't leave without trying the chocolate truffles, but trust me on this, pop the whole thing in your mouth at once to avoid making a spectacle of yourself.
- Pros: Great cocktail list, good service
- Cons: Bar area can fill up quickly
NYC gem
by NYCSocial
The food is excellent, and the service is outstanding. This is a definite NYC gem! I highly recommend it for all cigar lovers!
- Pros: Not just for cigar smokers.
- Cons: Parking might be tough
Pay tribute to the must-haves of smoking: Good food, great drinks and superb tobacco.

This intimate space, which received a coveted exemption from the New York smoking ban, fuses the spontaneity of a Havana social club (impromptu salsa sessions, vibrant live music) with the moneyed machismo of a Wall Street boardroom (mahogany paneling, 70/30 male-to-female ratio). The crowd combines bright young things decked in Dolce & Gabbana and seasoned veterans in bespoke suits. Dinner may be overshadowed by the cigar and alcohol pickings, but the fare is undeniably satisfying. The tender Havana steak comes paired with mashed potatoes creamy enough to make any Atkins-addict crumble. Warm chocolate truffles in powdered sugar are the perfect way to end (or start) a pleasurable evening.
A nice place, but...

Had to visit here on my recent trip to NYC. A nice place with atmosphere but they really pissed me off. AFTER lighting up my $20 Padron Anniversario the waiter told me that I could not smoke my own cigar and that there was a $10 minimum cigar purchase! He also said that there was a $20pp drink minimum for table service. Now I'm from Philly where we don't have this type of crap and you can bring and smoke your own cigars. Next time, I'll go elsewhere and avoid the attitude and all the rules!
- Pros: Nice atmosphere
- Cons: Expensive drinks, cigar rules, minimums
Cigar lovers can celebrate
by bpoelman
The concierge at the W Hotel turned us on to this gem of a cigar bar and we're happy he did. After having been informed at Angelo & Maxie's that cigar smoking is no longer allowed in their "cigar bar," we made our way to Club Macanudo and readily found ourselves in a cigar and wine lovers heaven. The decor is worth a mention, with plush seating areas that range from bar stools to table/chair combos to full sofa areas. The colors and artwork are an ohmage to the artful history of cigars and their Cuban/Caribbean roots. Cool people, relaxed atmosphere, and wonderful cigars. Can't be beat!
- Pros: Atmosphere, Cigars, Wine
Smoker's PAradise

Great atmosphere, live music on Saturday nights (good live music) and a relatively smoke free atmosphere - if that makes any sense. Drinks are expensive but the mohitos are great!
