The best Local's Place on the Upper East Side.
by merchant274205
Lived in Manhattan for 15 years, been everywhere. If you are a neighborhood type, it just doesn't get any better than this place.
They've defined and refined the KISS rule (Keep it simple stupid) for restaurants.
Enjoy!
Pub dining

I remember finding about Luke's after the Mike Wallace incident, hence the Mike Wallace meatloaf on the menu, which my friends are huge fans of. Luke's is a great place on the Upper East Side where you can catch the game at the bar or just enjoy a nice pub like dinner in the dining room. Its more of a restaurant then a pub, but it has a nice comfy feel. Their wings and chili are some of the best in town. I also enjoy stopping in here for Sunday brunch and having their version of the mcmuffin sandwich. They also have outdoor seating. My only gripe is they never include utensils with their delivery! But other than that, if you're looking for a laid back night with good food, Luke's is the place.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: delivery
Upscale Diner, great prices
by ZagatsNightmare
Luke's is a great, little neighborhood place. It's basically an upscale diner. Wide selection of basic American fare, from burgers to salads to steak, done well in a nicer setting. Good food, good service. There's nothing fancy or pretentious here. Good for the whole family. Almost all the entrees are under $20 and the beer is cheap too, from $3 - $5 a glass.
- Pros: good food/great prices
- Cons: no credit cards
Best French Toast with Real Maple syrup
by felly_1
We love coming here on Sunday for Brunch to have the best French toast with maple syrup...the real stuff. The French toast is thick and they do it just right, not too soggy and not too dry either. Comes with choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, and hash browns that are decent but nothing too spectacular. Doesn't come with eggs, but get another person to order those and then share.
Weekday lunch menu does not include breakfast items. The pulled pork sandwich is tasty. Fries &/or Onion Rings are separate. I kinda like the onion rings because they are really lightly breaded, but they are also really thinly sliced/shredded so they are a bit messy to eat.
Haven't given much else a shot since I really only come for the French toast.
Wish they took credit cards!
- Pros: weekend brunch
- Cons: Cash Only
Affordable bar/restaurant
by yukster11
Very good place on the Upper East Side to get some food and enjoy a drink. There's a small bar in front and seating for about 30-40 in the back. Prices are reasonable although they vary (Coors Light Draft is $3 while a Bud Light Bottle and Amstel Bottle is $5). Menu has a decent variety and isn't very expensive. Draws a mid 30's and older crowd as well as a number of families. There are 3 tv's, two by the bar and 1 by the back of the restaurant. Bathrooms are unisex and located by the kitchen. Staff is very friendly.
- Pros: Prices/Staff
nice view on the weekends
by nynyny
I love Luke's. my girlfriends and i come in all the time before we head out on a friday or saturday night. not only is the atmosphere great, but you can't miss the two hotties behind the bar... glen and chris. but careful girls, we think they're both taken! FYI..great food, but not low fat. go for the fingers!
credit cards NOT accepted!
- Pros: view behind the bar, low key, great food
- Cons: no credit cards!
Credit What?!
by bpliebelt
After rave reviews that this little bar and grille was different than all of its neighbors, I found out out the truth: it IS different...they do not accept credit cards for payment. I do not care how good their burger was (it didn't come with fries; they are extra), I do not need the hassle of hitting an ATM and carrying cash. After all, I know lemonade stands manned by six year olds that accept credit these days!
- Pros: crowd, food
- Cons: payment
