old fashioned pizza
by Suzanne Miles
I called this review "old fashioned" and i mean it in a good and a bad way. the place is very nostalgic... its still 1990s in there. the food is so bland and so "middle america" maybe thats why there r tons of tourists and no "newyorkerz" there... Anyway, its not all bad, sometimes you're in the mood of plain cheese pizza... before goumet fresh crusts and fresh topings... I,mnot even being sarcastic. this place is good for a hangover meal. its not cheap cnsidering what theyre serving...
Best Pizza in the City
by jackryan
This has the best pizza in the city...however there is a catch. Delivery is not the best, sometimes it gets there fast and sometimes not. I always heat up the pizza in the oven and I recommend the same as it's a little tough and I like my pizza well done.
In addition to the well done style, some times it is and others it's not. Outside of this minor issue, there is one more....they don't know how to cut a pizza clean, some pieces are huge and others tiny. Someone needs to go to pizza cutting 101.
Worst Pizza Restaurant

I had a discount certificate for John's Pizzeria, so I decided to use it one night. What a mistake! This place was awful. The pizza was mediocre and overpriced, with a most unpleasant blend of sogginess and overly-burnt crust. We also ordered a chicken parmigiana that was a terrible-tasting slab of minced chicken (if it was even that) with a tiny dollop of sauce on one side only. Dry, tasteless, and also overpriced.
The staff here matched the food - and that is certainly nothing to write home about, either. They got our order wrong, made no attempt to correct it, and the ditsy little teenage "manager" wouldn't do anything for us either. What a dining disaster! Even with my discount coupon (which, not surprisingly, they gave me a hassle about, too) this was a complete rip-off. Never again.
- Pros: They're open for business
- Cons: The food, the service, the prices!
John's has always had the best crust in eat in house
by lex142
The crust is airy and crispy, with a well seasoned sauce and a good quality cheese. The topping are just the right amount. This has alway been my favorite pizza, but I wouldn't have it delivered again, it didn't travel well. It's a pleasant dining room and there's a patio out back too.
- Pros: succulent pizza with an amazing crust
- Cons: doesn't travel well
A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT!
by jay333
We live in the neighborhood and when out for a walk "discovered" John's! We checked out the lovely patio in the back and promised to return! Sorry we did! Upon arriving on a Saturday night we discovered no seating in the patio - which was cool enough as my dad always said, "You can't eat the ambiance!" Nor can you eat the expensive food here! The pizza was the first inedible pizza we've encountered outside of the school cafeteria of our youth! Walk over to Angels for a good meal at a good price!
Glad we found John's!!

Just spent Memorial Day weekend in NYC. My husband researched ahead of time what pizza joints would serve up some great NY pizza. John's did not disappoint!! The favorite part for all of us was the crust...crispy, yet soft. We were staying in Times Square and didn't know that there is a John's right there but were glad we took a taxi to the 64th location. The atmosphere in the courtyard out in the back was cozy. We loved Lauren, our waitress as she was friendly and helpful and gave us other recommendations of things to do and see in NYC. Visit John's!!
Just as good as the original

I like all of John's Pizza locations and this one is no exception. I like the neighborhood feel to this one and the food, service and price make for a nice night out. With all the good pizza in NYC, I recommend John's as one of my favorites.
pizza delivery - disgusting
by aw3133112
this was the worst pizza i've ever had delivered. it was cold and tasteless. toppings were skimpy. calamari was soggy. adding insult to injury, the pricetag was 50% more than the place i ended up calling afterwards to deliver the same order.
- Pros: NONE!!!
- Cons: , expensive
Great Eastside Place
by eny
What a great place to eat and relax with your family and friends! The garden in the back is cozy and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the food was AWESOME!!!!! I've got to tell my friends about this place. When on the east side, visit this John's location.
Upper East Side outpost of New York's first family of pizzerias.

In Short
This outpost of the Village's famed thin-crust pizza parlour is a cozy neighborhood favorite. The menu features pastas and salads, but the pies--particularly tomato-cheese with just a few fresh and meaty toppings--are the thing. John's thin, charred crust is a Gotham trademark. This location also has a garden.
