Great experience with Oz Moving

My fiancee and I have decided to use Oz moving for our recent move. We moved two apartments into one and dreaded choosing movers after we heard some horror stories from friends. We got some good recommendations for these guys and called them for a price. I spoke to a very helpful lady who took a list of our belongings and gave me an estimate based on hourly rate. The rate was very close to other companies we called but the estimated time was a little more than other companies. At the end of the move it was clear that our move could not have been completed within the time estimated by some other moving companies we surveyed. We decided to use Oz because of our friends’ recommendation and gut feeling. Oz movers arrived at my place fifteen minutes early and took the time to explain the paperwork we were signing, survey the apartment and prepare their equipment before they started working on the scheduled time. After loading my stuff they drove to my fiancee’s place and loaded her stuff before going to our new place.

The move took all day and the guys did not stop for a minute, they wrapped all of our furniture with these pads and moved everything quickly and efficiently. The head guy, I think his name was Mike or Mark, was on top of his guys for the whole time and orchestrated a well-done operation.

A day we thought would be horrific ended up being one of the easiest days surrounding the whole moving process.

Now we just have a mountain of boxes to unpack. Maybe we should have had them do it too.

I warmly recommend Oz moving for a peace of mind. We definitely got ours.

THE GUYS AT OZ SHOWED UP EARLY AND DID MY ENTIRE MOVE FROM THE UPPER EAST SIDE TO SOHO IN UNDER 3 HOURS. THEY HANDLED EVERYTHING FROM WRAPPING TO HELPING ME UNPACK THE HEAVY FRAGILE BOXES. I ONLY WISH I USED THEM FOR ALL MY PREVIOUS MOVES....

The only moving company I`ll use

I used to use another known moving company for years.

I schduled an appointment to price the move and they never showed up or called, so I decided to try Oz - from the first call to the last box that was moved to my new place it was a great experience, everyboby was courteous and helpful and the crew was caredul and quick.

I will definitely recommend Oz to all my friends and family.

I live in Jersey City, I have four children, and I needed to move. Doing it myself was out of the question. I work for the Neiman Marcus Group and one of my co-workers used Oz several months ago. She had nothing but great things to say about Oz Moving, the initial estimate was accurate and the movers were great. The foreman on the job whose name was Boris found $1000 that she forgot about and gave it to her, she was completely shocked. I have never heard that type of honesty, especially in the moving industry. I had to give them a shot... Oz exceeded all my expectations, they arrived early and put all my fears to rest as the three man crew they sent worked tirelessly to make an otherwise difficult task look so easy. I would recommend Oz Movers to anyone in search of an honest quality moving service.

Best movers in NYC

We used Oz Moving for our recent move in New York City and I am happy we did. My boyfriend and I got three quotes from different moving companies and chose to go with Oz even though they were not the cheapest. we had them do everything, pack the boxes, move us to our new apartment and unpack the boxes. We had the same guys for all three days of the move and they were adorable. Professionals who clearly knew what they were doing. we were told by the head guy to "get some coffee, sit, relax and watch the show". And a show it was.

We would never use other movers. It is so great to have these guys do it all, it was easy, relaxing and i might even say fun.

Excellent moving experience at a great price!

My wife and I just moved from Manhattan to the Boston area. We decided to go with Oz movers based partly on the great reviews on CitySearch. We were not disappointed! They provided an estimate that was almost the same as FlatRate, and considerably less than everyone else we priced. On the day of the move, the Oz team arrived promptly at 8am, quickly and professionally loaded all of our stuff onto the truck, and headed for Boston. We met them at our new apartment some hours later, and they unloaded everything and put together our furniture in under an hour. The were extremely professional, careful, and friendly throughout the day. And, since they worked so quickly, the final cost was over $300 less than the estimate, so we saved a lot of money compared to FlatRate. Overall, this was an extremely easy moving experience. We got outstanding service at a price no one else could match. We will definitely use Oz for future moves and would highly recommend them to anyone else!

Great Service

I recently used OZ Movers to transport supplies for a large fundraiser I was overseeing. They were fantastic. They were reliable, friendly and very professional. I would highly reccomend them to anyone who needs moving services!

Good service but beware of the cost

The good: Oz moved us across town without damaging anything. The staff was generously courteous and professional.

The bad: They quoted us a rate by the hour and their team was certainly aware of it. They took their sweet time loading and unloading so that our 1 BR apartment (with everything but the larger furniture already packed) took 5 hours to move from one elevator building to another in Manhattan. As a comparison, FlatRate had sent an appraiser who estimated 3 hours and a guaranteed price that ended up being 30% lower than what we had to pay Oz. On the phone Oz had estimated 3 hours for a total price that was slightly lower than FlatRate, which is why we went with them.

The ugly: On the phone I was told that there were no other charges other than the hourly rate. Once the truck arrived I was informed that I was liable for any parking tickets they got unless I wanted the truck to park blocks away, making the move even slower. Other companies do not make you liable for this so beware and ask before you commit!

Overall, a good choice

This was our first coast-to-coast move. We had a 1BR move from NYC to SF. The customer service agent Charles was very courteous and nice. I was surprised how quickly they were able to pick up our stuff (within 4 days) however they didn't ship it out on a truck until almost a week later. Once on the truck to California, they were nice enough to make us the first stop so the total door-to-door time was 12 days. When they delivered our stuff in SF, it showed up in a Budget van rental with other peoples' boxes as well. We also had another person's box mixed up with ours. (I called to report this and they are picking up the box this week to deliver it to the correct destination).

The prices were the most competitive we found during our research. We also liked that it was volume-based rather than weight-based because we had a lot of books and heavy stuff. The movers were really nice and very fast, even though we lived on a 5th floor walk-up in NYC.

Some of the boxes (also bought from Oz) upon delivery were in really bad condition and falling apart, even the ones marked fragile. We had a few breakages of dishes but nothing too major.

Overall, I would recommend Oz. They are probably the best value for money out there especially in terms of coast-to-coast moves. It's not perfect, but they do whatever they can to help and make the move easier. Also, they don't try to surprise you with hidden charges or fees at the end of the move. You know the quote up front and you pay half then and half upon delivery.
