Oz - The Wizard Of Moving

My experience with Oz moving was nothing less than a nightmare. First off, they quoted me as arriving at 9. When I went to the elevator at 8:30 to get coffee, they guy was already there. He started chatting with me, and taking his sweet time explaining to me some of the paperwork. It wasn’t until we got to the contract that I realized that my “3 hour moving window” had started when he arrived even though nothing at all had been moved and no one else was there except him. He completely wasted valuable moving time, and purposely stalled to make more money. Then they told me that I was responsible for any parking ticket they received, although when I called Oz originally they told me that I would not be responsible. They flat out lied. When they went over my contract, I had to sign that I was, in fact, responsible. I ended up getting a “ticket” while I was helping move my stuff (yes, I had to help, because they were being completely slow and totally taking advantage of the fact that I was a girl). When I went to pay at the end of the move, they charged me $115 for the ticket. The second I asked for a copy of the ticket, they told me no. As I pressed more for a copy, they all of a sudden took it off the bill. I am totally convinced that it was a fake ticket, and a way to try to scam me out of more money. They quoted me $455.00, and by the end of they move, they wanted to charge me about $800.They lied over the phone to get me to sign up to the move, then charged me in anyway they could. Not to mention that they charged me $30-$90 a box! And they boxes that they used had already been used probably 50 times and had tape all over them and were falling apart. When I asked to keep the box at the end of the move (I did pay a ton of money for it, after all) they told me that the price would triple if I wanted to keep it! Such a SCAM. They completely took advantage of my situation, and I cannot be more disappointed.

Cons: THEY MADE ME CRY! EVERYTHING!

Upon relocating to New York City a few years ago, I found that moving here is anything but east. But now that I have found Oz Movers I know that to be wrong. They moved me fast and efficiently. Everything was done for me and I like moving like that. I may move again just because of Oz!

A friend referred me to Oz movers and I am grateful for that. It was not my first time moving and probably not the last. These guys were nice, honest, professional and much better than any other movers I've used this far. I am definitely going to use them the next time I move. Cheers.

so when my friends told me they were moving I told them about another moving company,but when we called they were all booked up. My next idea was to check citysearch that's when we came across oz. When they showed at their door I was suprised at how easy they made it. There was nothing broken and really just no issues other than just making the move easy. My friends now always will trust me!

My girlfriend just moved into my apartment last week. She insisted on using Oz because she was referred by her friends. She also insisted that I take a day off work to facilitate the move. These guys were amazing! They came, they moved, they left. It was so fast and efficient, I was able to get back to work and finish the second half of the day. I was worried so I must have called the sales guy Charlie a million times. I'm sure I annoyed him, but he seemed to be used to it and handled my questions well. Thanks Chuck and the moving guys! I definitely recommend you using Oz!

Pros: Fast movers, cool sales guy

Cons: I can't get referral fees for telling my friends!!!!

After hearing rave reviews about Oz from three different friends, my wife and I used them to move from Manhattan to a third-floor walkup in Queens last month. The four guys they sent were really nice and sufficently brawny. They wrapped all our furniture up quickly and efficiently; nothing was damaged in the move. They took direction well and the whole move was done in very good time. When all was said and done, they came in 25% less than their estimate. (With the last movers we used--Flat-Rate--we had the opposite experience.) It was the best move we've ever had.

Pros: Professionals who know how to move furniture safely; came in under budget; arrived on time

This is my first review. I figure since I found Oz through citysearch, I should come back and review. I had a wonderful experience moving with Oz. I loved that they came over to my apartment to give me a binding estimate. They were really flexible when I wanted to add additional items to my move list. Every call/email where answered promptly. The moving guys were friendly, helpful, and hardworking. I couldn't ask for a better moving experience. I am probably going to have to move again in a couple of months and will definitely use them again.

Pros: great customer service

Cons: not for the budget mover

I've moved more than the average person over the last few years. I've hired many movers both in and out of New York. This was BY FAR the most professional and reasonably priced move I've ever had. The care given to my belongings was outstanding. The professionalism of the foreman and the crew was beyond anything I've experienced EVER in a move. The quote given over the phone practically matched the actual move to the dollar. The boxes were not overpriced; no extra materials were pushed on me nor were there any hidden charges. Each step of the move was explained to me and I signed for it along with the foreman. I am also OZ for storage and my pieces were wrapped with the utmost care. I was extremely impressed and would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone needing any moving or storage job.

Pros: Reasonable price; very efficient; care and concern with my belongings

My experience with Oz Movers was great. They showed up on time, worked quickly and the entire crew was very professional. Nothing was broken or lost during the move. The estimate was accurate and the staff helpful in coordinating the move with both management companies. I highly recommend them.
