I knew ahead of time about the disorganization and crowd, so was mentally prepared for that. I thoroughly enjoyed all the craziness. It's a time when bargain-crazy shoppers really bond. I found myself laughing, joking around and sharing feedback with other women. I suggest that you go check it if a) you are not pressed for time, and have a long afternoon to wander...b) find small joy in just browsing the racks, not necessarily looking for that perfect piece, but just curious about the stuff that they carry there. I certainly did not expect to buy anything, but walked away with two amazing Barneys handbags for over 70% their retail value.

  • Pros: it's fun, it's crazy, and maybe you can find a bargain
  • Cons: you already know the cons, so not worth it to repeat

I love a bargain - but not at the risk of hurting myself and others... pay full price and go to the BIG store - Barney's - you'll be happier and the the staff is amazing... you'll also be in season with the styles

We bought a "Barney's New York" men's dress shirt for my boyfriend and later discovered that the stitching on the yoke was completely messed up when he took the shirt out of the package. Since it was a couple of months after the Warehouse sale, I tried to take it back to Barney's on Madison. They told me that they don't carry the BNY white label at the regular store and that the item was only sold at the Warehouse Sale. So, if you think you're getting a great discount off the regular Barney's price, it's because they're discounting the materials and worksmanship to deliver a lower-quality product and not being upfront about it. The BNY at the regular store is the black label.

  • Pros: Decent discount if you can find a good designer in your size
  • Cons: Crowded

Twice a year (August and February), for about a week and a half, Barneys New York opens the doors to its warehouse to sell overstock at 50-75 percent off original retail prices.

According to the Barney's web site, the address is indeed CORRECT. Don't listen to the person below.

I found the most amazing deals at the Barney's New York Warehous Sale last season, and I can't wait to go again. Even the waiting in line is worth it!!! You just have to put on your boyshorts and camisole (remember you will be changing in public) and get ready for the most amazing finds!!! I'm not a 2 or a 14 and was able to add some amazing items to my wardrobe: A pair of Manolos (size 8 1/2) for $70 (regularly $585!!! Four pairs of Theory pants for $75 each (regularly between $250-$350). Tops from Philip Lim, Trovata, Vince, James Perse etc. That doesn't even include my boyfriend - he was able to completely outfit himself for work with suits (about $450 each) and sportcoats (about $250 each) from Varvatos, Canali, Hugo Boss. It was amazing. We went about 4 times. I can't wait for it to start on August 17, 2006. See you there!!!

  • Pros: amazing clothes at fantastic prices
  • Cons: long line to check out and no fitting rooms

This sale is horrible. I went there to be greeted (if you can call it that) by a rude security guard at the door. Upon entering it was an utter mess! and the clothes looked like it was something out of the salvation army (sometimes they have better stuff). It was a huge waste of time for me. I couldn't find a darn decent thing..the only thing I paid for was my $25 parking lot fee.

  • Pros: not, one, thing
  • Cons: clothing selection, extremely crowded, parking

They usually have a very nice selection of men's suits, dress shirts, pants and sweaters. The men's shoes are more limited. The housewares and women's section, on the other hand, are usually nothing more than a mobbed mess. Even if you find your size, the item is likely ripped or stained. I've been to each of the warehouse sales over the last 3 years and have NEVER found anything (for ladies) worthwhile until this year - 3 pairs of really cute Freelance shoes, one pair not even for me (not my size). If you can stomach the crowds, you Again, good for men's stuff (we buy men's stuff every time) and only twice a year.

The Warehouse is only open and available certain times of the year, so call a local New Yorker who is in "the know" and ask them to find out if the warehouse is stocked and open for business!

  • Cons: Limited occurances, un-advertised, Not always open
