I had not heard much about this restaurant until I happened to be walking by with two friends and just popped in for a bite to eat and a bottle of wine. Glad we did. That night I had a Berkshire pork chop which was out of this world along with my friends chopped salad, mussels, lasagne and butternut squash tortelloni. We knew right away we found a spot. Only problem is its busy and can be loud depending on what time it is. The wine list is primo and reasonably priced as well. Great food and the service is awake as well

  • Pros: Best pasta
  • Cons: Can be loud at times

Great food!

by derfffff

I use to work at this restaurant when it first opened and back then the food was "OK." I decided to pay a visit tonight after going to the Met Museum and man, has the decor changed and man, has the food gotten MUCH better! lol. Had the grilled swordfish special with Yukon Gold mash and spinach. The fish was SOOOO moist and succulent. Also, tried the Margarita pizza, the chopped salad and crab cake which were all absolutely delicious (especially the chopped salad!). My friend had the fontina/fig/carmelized onion pizza similar to the one when I worked there and still absolutely tasty. It was also great to see that the food expeditor who was there when I was there when Grace's first opened is still there!!!

Home

If you and your family enjoy home cooked Italian meals this is the place for you. My family has been coming here for ten years and we love everything. The lasagne is incredible as are all of the pasta dishes. The meat and fish dishes are fresh and wonderful as well. to note the rib eye is a delight, juicy and flavorful. I cant say enough good things about the friendly owners and waitstaff who make you feel so at home. I guess thats why they have been around for ten years plus. Some say it is expensive but i believe you get so much for your money it becomes a great value. love it

Great Value, Better Food

by DaveA611

My wife and I were here on Friday night for dinner and I just wanted to say we had a great time. It was busy but after about 5 minutes we had a table and were ordering our wine. To start we shared the Smoked Salmon Flatbread and Mussels, and they were really good. For dinner I had the Shortribs which were unbelievably tender and she had the Shrimp risotto. We both were getting full but decided to try the cheesecake for dessert and were glad we did. Everything was delicious and when we got our check, I was surprised at how reasonably priced everything was. We will definetly be back and look foward to trying some others dishes. Try it out, I'm sure you will feel the same way.

Well worth it

by Leftylou

The place was pretty busy Saturday night so my date and I had to wait a little while at the bar and were glad we did. We both shared the grilled octopus, I had the clams casino and short ribs. My date had a caprese salad and grilled branzino everything tasted great and looked even better. The sevice was good could have been more attentive but they were very busy so. Anyway we did not have dessert we were stuffed but overall had a great experience an plan on becoming regulars, its quite affordable and cozy for a date.

Try it you will like it !

I have to say that the negative review posted "terrible food " sounds like it was written by a disgruntled former employee or a competitor. I myself have lived in the neighborhood for ten years and know for a fact the former chef as reffered to in this post left in 1998. The current chef has been with this trattoria since. Seems odd that the reviewer claims to have knowledge of the former chefs current employer. Is he a friend or a relative? My wife and I have also enjoyed the trattoria for years and hate to see such a conflict of interest review. I say try it and judge for yourself you won't be sorry.

  • Pros: Warm, cozy and friendly with very good food and service

Quality and Atmosphere

by lindsay315

I ate there this weekend and the food was excellent. I had the duck breast with chestnut sauce and my friend had the pork loin. The food was well prepared and unfussy, the quality of the meat was high, and the room was cozy yet felt upscale. Additionally, the couple next to us were sharing pizza and pasta and though I cannot vouch for taste, it smelled delicious and looked quality. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and would absolutely return.

Terrible Food

by charlesmstam

I do not know where the other reviewers are accustomed to eating, because the food at Grace's is simply revolting. The service is ok, the space is a little corny but fine, we can deal with that. The problem is that the food tastes terrible. I'd rather be eating mercury. I went here a few years ago and loved it, but then they got a new chef (the old one is currently at The Brasserie) and the quality of the food took a nosedive. Last time I was here I ordered a pizza that tasted like rubber. I felt like I was eating in the airport. Save your money, unless I just had two bad experiences that are uncharacteristic of the place, which I doubt.

  • Pros: Decent Service
  • Cons: Disgusting Food

OUR SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!

by princessxtc

The first time I went there for lunch I was very impressed with the Shrimp Salad, so many flavors and textures. My husband and I went back again for dinner for our anniversary and it could not have been more wonderful. We offered a taste of some incredible wine, and our server helped us pick a bottle that perfect for us. She was so funny, leading us through some of her favorites and offering a a personal guarantee ( "IF you don't like it, I will eat for you"). Needless to say, she starved. I had the Baby Spinach salad and the Sea Scallops. I think these were quite possibly the best I ever had, served pan seared over grilled asparagus. My husband, she could tell is much more the meat and potatoes guy, so she suggested the mussels, truly a man sized portion, and T-Bone steak cooked to absolute perfection. With some mashed potatoes, He was in seventh heaven. For dessert, we had a 'mood elevating' warm chocolate cake. Boy, was she right! The port she suggested to go with it was absolutely divine. In addition to a lovely ambience and relaxing decor (family pictures everywhere), we were never rushed, in fact it was made clear we were welcome to stay as long as we liked. Another thing that really touched me was a little old lady in the corner by herself. She was evidently a regular, and everyone made sure to stop by her table to say hello. It was quite apparent that everyone is made to feel truly welcome here, and I have had a wonderful time every time we have been.
