Great Food and Great Atmosphere what else can you ask for. When you're in the mood for some fried Humus and a great time with your friends try Uskudar.

Sweet Turkish Gem
by Loki1967
The sign that said Appetizers and Wine won the day vs the other competitors on the block. I would up having the lunch special with a first, main, and desert courses. I tried both Turkish Red Wines. They were both dry and flavorful. The bread was warm and crisp and the Coban Salad was very fresh. You could tell the vegetables were fresh and crisp. For my main dish I had a comb Lamb/Chicken Adana. The meat was so tender and tasty I don't think I left even a scrap of meat. For desert the Turkish Coffee (always a favorite) and Kayisi (apricots) were a superb ending to my meal.
I think Uskudar is a great place for going on a date and perfect to start a night out on the Upper East Side.

Used to go here often, but moved away. Tried it again and very disappointed; the food was uninspired and not necessarily fresh. We thought it was overpriced for what it was, so on leaving I only left a 10% tip. The waitress stopped me and demanded double the sales tax - this was their "policy". WHat a nerve!
- Pros: OK Turkish food
- Cons: bad value, terrible attitude
Below average

Food is average, no ambiance, mediocre service. Used to be a good restaurant I'm amazed at its dramatic downturn.
- Pros: none
- Cons: everything is below average
Simple ingredients prepared well, excellent service

Uskudar Turkish Restaurant is a gem in my neighborhood. It has been in the same location for nearly 20 years now, and I'm sure their longevity is due to the regulars who know a good thing and keep going back! Another Turkish restaurant just opened up two blocks away, but Uskudar is better. The ingredients, though simple, are prepared with complex blends of spices. Hot dishes are cooked to perfection. The ambiance is pleasant even in such a tiny space. The excellent, conscientious service was a welcome change from the usual attitude of upper east side waitstaff. I wouldn't want Uskudar to change a thing!
- Pros: Great food, excellent service, never rushed to leave even when they have people waiting.
- Cons: Small room, tables very close together.
Simple and delicious

A really nice surprise... The decor could not be more simple and plain but the food is fresh -- Not over-seasoned and the service impecable with no shi-shi..
Ask for the whole broiled Red Snapper and start with the artichoke...
- Pros: simplicity, fresh
- Cons: bad pita bread, tightness
Great Fresh Food!!!

Had a party of 4 people plus 2 year kid. Made reservation ahead of time because I heard the place was small. Decor is zero. 2 waiters for the whole restaurant, but service was very good. Slow at times, but definitely worth the wait for the food. Kofte kabobs are very good. Hummus and spinach pastries are good appetizers. Prices for entrees range from $12.95-16. Overall great bang for the buck!
- Pros: Fresh Food, Nice Service, Good prices
Like eating in your living room.

This tiny treasure is worth your time - especially if you enjoy Turkish or Middle eastern fare.
While small and cramped, the friendly servers work their buns off to serve up tasty treats from the kitchen.
Try the Kafta Kebabs and Lamd dishes. very good, indeed.
Terrific Turkish!

I have been a faithful customer of theirs for over 10 years. For a restaurant to last 10 years in NYC is pretty impressive, so they must be doing something right. The price/quality ratio is excellent, the service good and atmosphere perfect. This is my favorite neighborhood joint.
