i live round the corner and been going there for ages for my cupcakes. although the service alwasy left much to be desired, this time they jst outdid themselves. Rude, inappropriate, ghetto-like style of service. I can live without the cupcakes.
Best Cupcake by far
by netwt10oz
Tried the best cupcake in NYC circut. Although most were good none were outstanding or memorable. Then one day I walked past Mitchell Londens on 65th and eyeballed the cupcakes. By the look of them I had a feeling they were good. I purchased one and was blowen away. The cake was moist and flavorful, the iceing a perfect blend of quality ingridients and sweetness. Outstanding. No other cup cakes come close. I also tried the French Cruller which again the best I ever had. Looking forward to going back on my next city visit.
Better to go hungry!

After giving this establishment more than one try to redeem itself, I've finally given up. Although the location may be handy, the mediocre overpriced food, disinterested service and 'uptown' staff is just not worth it. They are unorganized and unprofessional.
Slow Service
by 212girl
The food is average and the staff is extremely slow and Mitchell London is so rude when he is there. I pick up my lunch there sometimes but only because there aren't that many options in the neighborhood.
- Cons: Slow service, Expensive , Rude Owner
Great Lunch Value!
by ccastronova
After walking by this crowded lunch spot, I wandered in for take out!
Genuinely interested chef/cook greeted me at the counter.
Very knowledgeable about the offerings and the ingredients. And under $10
for a homemade, healthy meal w/dessert! I will definitely go back. Excellent value!
Enjoy!
- Pros: quality food, varied menu, fair prices
- Cons: plain decor
Gourmet to go, perfectly suited to well-heeled Upper East Siders' discriminating palates.

Mitchel London was former mayor Ed Koch's personal chef in a past life. Now he splits his time between his three shops--the other two are located inside Fairway and in Hell's Kitchen. This takeout spot does a bustling business, providing gourmet salads, sandwiches and baked goods to locals looking for something beyond Chinese delivery. From grilled vegetables and tuna salad to heavenly croque monsieurs and quiches, the to-go menu features fresh, reliably delicious fare. Those looking to cater a party can browse the long menu of hors d'oeuvres: mini-hamburgers with sweet-and-sour relish, beef fillet on black bread with horseradish-mustard cream and buttermilk biscuits filled with ham, mustard and more. Holiday meals with all the trimmings are offered with a week's advance notice. Among pastries, the free-form seasonal tarts are excellent. The mini-cupcakes owe their loyal following to the fudge-like chocolate frosting.
great food, atrocious service
by michaelnyc
We used to order from the 9th ave. street location every single day for food at work, but every time they would have a problem with our order. We finally resorted to faxing in a written order so they couldn't possibly screw it up, but they managed to do that and continue to do that on the rare occassion when we still order from them. Unfortunately the food is delicious. I've called many times to try to figure out a way to help them get their act together, but I've given up after the fifth time explaining that they forgot something on our order.
- Pros: food
- Cons: service
