DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE
by gabe2525
WORST! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO GET NEUTERED HERE! If there was a zero star option, I would choose that. Awful communication. Worse service.
First, the vets misrepresent their services. I took my dog to get neutered at the East Side Animal Hospital on a Friday and was told that they keep the dogs overnight to make sure that they are attended to. I later found out that (at least on Friday's) the vet's leave at 5 pm and the staff leave at 7 pm. No one comes back to the office until 8am (earliest) the next morning! The fact that they tell you that it is best to keep the dog overnight so that they can "monitor" your dog is abhorrent! Noone was with my dog for, at a minimum, 13 hours - the longest BY FAR that my dog has ever been left alone since I have owned him.
Second, none of the vet's explained the risks and warnings associated with getting my dog neutered prior to the surgery. When I finally was allowed to pick up my dog on Sunday, his scrotum was the size of an orange (about 10 times the size of his testicles prior to neutering), the area was black, red, and blue from bruising, and my dog appeared to be in extremely great discomfort.
Third, the vets gave me medication to give to my dog to ease his pain and lower the inflammation. I later found out that the vet did not even give us any anti-inflammatory medication and gave us medicine that made my dog literally fall over. Again, the vet did not explain any of the side effects of these drugs nor did they explain how the interaction of the multiple drugs could negatively affect my dog.
I could go on and on, but, overall, THIS WAS THE WORST VET EXPERIENCE OF MY (and my dog's) LIFE. I WILL NEVER TAKE HIM BACK.
wonderful practice

I have a very happy cat thanks to East Side Animal Hospital. After being lethargic for 3 days I brought my 13 year old cat in to see Dr. Manning. After going over the history and doing a thorough exam he found my cat to have back pain. He told me that it must have hurt itself jumping, and was probably having some arthritis as well. He proceded to give it an injection for the pain and send me home with medication for the arthritis - not only was the cat back to himself the next day, but he jumped up on the counter for the first time in weeks.
I have continued on the liquid medication, which is so easy for my cat to take, and now he's like a kitten again.
The best vet ever!!!

I love this practice --- they are so friendly and accomodating when I bring my puppy dog. Dr. Manning is the kindest, most thorough and sincere doctor that I have met. He takes the time to explain everything to me. He was the only doctor - and I saw MANY - that was able to cure my dogs skin ailments - I am forever grateful .
A Concerned And Caring Vet

I have known Dr. Manning for more than 20 years. He is
a caring person and a skilled doctor. He is always glad to answer questions in a practical, direct and patient manner. He has taken care of several of my dogs and
has always been available and very kind. Your pet is in good hands with Dr. Keith Manning. I love the dogey day care too.
I love Dr. Manning

Dr, Manning is the most wonderful, available and caring vet I have ever met. I have been a dog owner my entire life - and no other Vet has been so accessible - He even called me from his vacation last week when I found a worm in my dogs stool - not an emergency - but Dr. M called me directly to discuss the treatment. I wish my medical doctor was as available. Dr. M called in a prescription and my dog is better
- Pros: kind, caring, patient, brilliant
Best Vet I have ever had
by jgood3784
I definitely recommend East Side Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Manning. My 8 year old Shih Tzu had slipped a disk in his back, and I thought for sure he would need expensive surgery from talking to other vets. While Dr. Manning said that was a course of action of last resort, he recommended a less invasive (and less expensive) course of treatment, and Hunter was able to avoid the surgery. Now he is back to his old playful self. Thanks East Side Animal Hospital!
- Pros: Dr. Manning is kind and honest
Best Animal Hospital in NYC

Dr. Manning is probably the best vet I have ever met - and I have had dogs for 30 years!.
He is the most patient doctor - listens to everything I say - never takes a casual attitude towards my dogs symptoms - He spends so much time with me that I always have to schedule a long visit in my day - even if it is a simple check-up - He is so completely thorough - and loving - East Side is the best!
- Pros: Dr. Manning is kind and wonderful -
Unfriendly and Expensive

I would not recommend East Side Animal Hospital to anyone. Our dog came down with what we thought was a UTI over a weekend and we quickly tried to find a vet in the NYC area as we had just moved. We brought our dog to East Side and overall the visit was ok, but, their follow-up was extremely disappointing. Instead of calling us with our dog's culture results, they made us call them several times until the results were in. I was told after my first attempt to call for her results that a vet would call me back ASAP. I never heard back so continued to call in hopes that I would get through to a vet. In addition, when I finally reached a vet who had our dog's culture results, he was impatient and rushed me off the phone. Not only did he talk to me like I was an idiot, but he quickly glossed over my questions and made me feel like asking questions was annoying. I asked several times about side-effects of an antibiotic my dog was taking and his voice became very edgy as if I was offending him in some way. Having studied at the most prestigious vet school in the United States, I can easily say that East Side Animal Hospital is a poor choice for anyone who loves their pet.
- Cons: Impatient Veterinarians, Overpriced
Best Veterinarian Clinic in NYC!!!!!!!!!!

I have been to many Vets in NY. Dr Manning is incredibly caring and kind. My golden, Dakota was treated by him for 13 years. When she had to be put to sleep, Dr Dipolo came in on a Sunday and held my hand and
really cared for my dear Dakota and for me. They are loving and caring. Yes, they are expensive like other
Vets, but in the end you get more than you paid for. When I adopted Wally my rescue Daschund, Dr Manning
helped me with knowing how to take care of this small breed and turned me on to the best behavior therapist, since he had been abused and run over by a car. I dont know how anyone could not honor their expertise and
warm bedside manner. I have never ever had a issue. Highly recommend to anyone.
Great vet!

They took good care of my dog. He came in as he got giardia at a kennel and the staff took good care of him.
