3-headed dog doorman, relaxing inside, laissez faire staff

by drink_club1

We had so much trouble with the doorman that some of us left before getting inside. One of us was holding a table inside. The doorman insisted he was NOT inside and we could not come in Once inside, those of us left, found a nice quiet place in the back Service was not particularly friendly... and the waitress seemed particularly adverse to taking our money at the end of the night. Still the inside was pleasant, and the atmosphere was a welcome change from Murphy's next door. The beer and food were okay. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers

  • Pros: good seating possibilities, relaxing atmosphere inside
  • Cons: doorman

sure thing

by celticait

Jameson's may not be the most exciting bar in the world, but it definitely is a good time if you go with a group of friends. Like the title of this review states, nothing spectacular, but a sure thing! (Good name too!)

Good beer, good staff, obnoxious music/patrons

by Drink_Club

Fine Irish bar on the East Side. Bad 80s music, a bit loud. Otherwise, friendly bar staff and waitress. Good beer choice. Big TV but not loud. The backroom is quiet and talk friendly. Jameson's at first seemed a horror story. It was me and Liz. Sitting in front, under too-loud speaker blasting bad 80s music. On a table in back of us was this white guy who wore his necktie around his head. (I would have loved to tighten it around is throat.) At odd moments he would burst into operatic drivel. Top of his lungs. Bottom of the intellectual heap. Eventually we moved and tipped the waitress extra to give the guy cement shoes and wheel him to the nearest pier. The rest of the night went well. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers

  • Pros: good beer selection, friendly staff, quiet room in back
  • Cons: bad 80s music, obnoxious clientelle

Home away from Ireland

by fairmontfred

Excellent food, excellent service, and most importantly, excellent guiness, maybe the best in the city. It should be considering how seriously Mike takes his Guinness!!!

Great Brunch

by risen_feenix

My omelette and potatoes were very good, and the complimentary screwdriver wasn't all watered down. Ate at the bar, and the barman was attentive, if a bit impersonal. Waitress who helped me out was very nice. Very dark bar, so doesn't really scream "welcome" on a sunny day, but the food's good.

Real Irish Pub

by lala1122

This bar is our local hangout. The owner/bartender is a great guy and really interesting to talk to. All of the staff is nice, never an attitude, they have a great jukebox with real lots of classic rock n roll and Irish bands as well.
