Desmond's was the highlight of a great New York trip. The beer was cold and Brian ( the Irish bartender ) was beyond funny. If you want to drink and have your brain tested by a quick witted bartender go to Desmond's. To those who don't like a sticky floor or want to inspect bathrooms ask yourself what are you doing in a bar to begin with.
- Pros: Brian
- Cons: none
Great old fashioned Pub

This isn't the type of place you bring a date. Meaning the floors are occasionally sticky and the place doesn't always smell like sunflowers. But it's a great old fashioned Irish Pub. The Bartenders are classic. They're such characters and they're very friendly. The atmosphere is layed back and the prices are decent. You can expect sports on the TV's but dont expect fancy plasmas or LCD's. The food is decent, typical pub food (burgers, fries, some pretty good wings, etc.) It's a great place to hang out, have a drink and chat.
THE Worst! Avoid at all cost. (Should really get NO stars...)

I went to hear a friend play here recently. The bartender served my girlfriend a mixed drink that was simply undrinkable. I told the watiress it really was horrible and we politely requested a different drink. Anywhere else that wouldn't have been a problem. Here it was. The waitress came back with the drink and said the bartender wouldn't take it back and if we had a problem with that we should talk to him. My girlfried went and talked to the bartender who, according to her, promptly insulted her and refused to take the drink back. NICE! We were forced to pay for the drink - that never got drunk - along with other drinks we had. Other than that, this place is a dirty, smelly dive with crappy food. If that's your cup of tea, by all means go and waste your time and money.

Great NYC Pub. The staff is what makes this place great. When you go, ask for Brian (the proud Irishman). He's got a great knowledge of his homeland that he is more than happy to share. He's also got a great sense of humor. It's a great place to mingle with locals and people visiting from all over the world.
- Pros: Beer selection, Staff, Live Music
- Cons: Food
Just go somewhere else.

Great place to go if you're drunk and don't see the sticky bar and the disgusting toilet. The Guiness tasted as though it had seen better days and they didn't have any Murphy's.

Came highly recommended by our concierge. However, we were very disappointed. We just wanted a lite bite to eat and some beers. We got the beers but we had to get them from the bartender ourselves even though the cocktail waitress passed us a dozen times. Once the music began, we left after waiting 45 minutes for our mozzarella sticks that never came.
- Pros: The beer was cold
- Cons: Everything else

If you are in the mood to drink with little atmosphere and the standard, but slightly more worn, feel of an NYC Irish Pub, this is the place. There's always a bit of a smell, but once you get over that, you're guaranteed to be joined at the bar by some other folks drinking away their troubles. Food's not really worth the effort - stay focused on Mr. Jameson.
- Pros: Cheap drinks and lots of them
- Cons: Run down
My favorite bar

Desmonds is my version of Cheers. The bartenders are lovely people, there are regulars that you know will be there every day to talk, and of course there are the guests of The Clarion hotel that wander in for a pint away from home. It is the heart that makes Desmonds my favorite bar, if you are looking for a lemondrop and cushy seats you are out of luck...but if you want a homey atmosphere this is the place.
- Pros: bartenders, regulars, music
Love this bar

Great after work bar which also has live music a few nights a week. NOT TRENDY like it's reviewed as, but it's a good old fashioned irish pub with great staff.
