Good location!
by lkuhlke at Citysearch
The San Carlos is a great location to both Times square and Fifth avenue shopping. Close to a subway line and Grand Central station. The staff friendly and helpful. The one problem was the continental breakfast. On our first morning there they had bagels, toast, yogurt and pastries as well as juice and coffee/tea. The next 4 mornings we saw only the juice and coffee/tea and yogurt and then little deserts. What happened to the bagels and toast? The rooms were well maintained although we found the bed to be very stiff and the pillows-ugh. So many hotels offer bed systems and when you are just 1 block away from the Waldorf-Astoria a little more attention to the mattress and pillows would be a good idea. Our stay there was pleasant but I would not stay there again-it didn't live up to my expections.
- Pros: Good location
- Cons: Hard mattress and pillows
A Midtown East hotel that's convenient for the touristy or shop-crazy traveler.
